Selena Gomez has shared some of the important things men need to do when it comes to dating.
Selena Gomez has dismissed the idea that she is ‘high maintenance’, saying that boys nowadays ‘confuse standards with high maintenance’.
Selena Gomez seemed to ruffled some feathers with her comments on dating after appearing on the SiriusXM radio last year.
A short clip from the segment has begun recirculating again on social media as the pop star spoke about how she dates.
Gomez – who recently reacted online with her new boyfriend to the news of Justin and Hailey Biber’s baby announcement – was hoping to speak about her then upcoming single, ‘Single Soon’, when hosts Tony Fly and Symon asked about one particular line from the song.
Quoting the lyrics: “I know I’m a little high maintenance, but I’m worth a try / Might not give a reason why (oh well),” the hosts asked if Gomez really considers herself high maintenance.
She replied: “I think I have standards, and I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high maintenance.
After some prodding from the hosts, Selena Gomez explained what her ‘X, Yand Z’ conditions were for dating. (SiriusXM)
“The line was really fun because I’m not ashamed to say. I actually require X, Y, and Z for you to be with me. So in a way, it was just meant to be for the attitude of the song, and that’s genuinely what I feel.”
After some prodding from the hosts, Gomez explained what her ‘X, Yand Z’ conditions are and it is hard to believe anyone would call them high maintenance demands.
“You gotta be cool, man,” she said. “Not cool in the sense that people think you’re cool. You just gotta be nice and like, please make me laugh and also just be good to my family and people around you.”She went on to say how she was content being single at the time and was comfortable with it.
“I think everybody goes through the phase of, ‘Oh, it’d be nice to like have someone’, and I get that,” she continued.

“But you know, I’m just enjoying where I’m at and I just want to be happy with who I am so that whenever that person comes into my life, I can just have them add on to me instead of being this insecure, you know, person that I normally used to be.”
“It’s basically my way of saying it’s totally okay being on your own and it’s fun.”
At the end of the year, the singer confirmed that she was in a new relationship with record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco.
