Benny Blanco’s friend, Andrew Santino, gave a frank response upon discovering the music producer is going out with Selena Gomez.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s relationship may have come as a shock to the fans, but nothing can stop them from being in love with each other, not even the latter’s friend’s comment. For those who don’t know, Blanco is a record producer, songwriter, and record executive.

He has worked with several Hollywood stars in the music industry so it’s not a wonder that he would cross paths with Gomez. Surely, music is also one thing that brought them together.

Benny Blanco’s Friend Could Not Believe He’s Dating Selena Gomez

While appearing on the Whiskey Ginger podcast, host Andrew Santino expressed dismay over finding out his friend is dating Selena Gomez.

I lost a lot of respect for her when I found out you were dating her because I’ve known you for years. She’s incredible. A great actor. A great performer. A great artist. Seems so humble. And then, I found out one day.

Of course, he said this in a joking manner. Santino has been a long-time pal of Benny Blanco. He continued, “I was in the shower, and my wife said, ‘Hey, Benny is dating Selena Gomez.’ And I turned the shower to cold all the way. And I sat there for about 30 minutes in a cold shower.”

Even Blanco has no idea how it all happened. He confessed he even “ask myself the same question every day.” He admitted his “features are so grotesque that I popped out on the other side and now, I’m just like a hot guy.” Gomez is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood so it is indeed a huge deal.

In 2023, the couple became official following Blanco’s announcement on Instagram. The former Disney Channel star told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that “it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you, and I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in.” She also admitted that being with Blanco has been the “safest” she ever felt.

Benny Blanco’s Relationship With Selena Gomez Was Unexpected

While guesting over SiriusXM, Blanco revealed his romance with Gomez was something he never anticipated. He said it was something like “just before we knew it, it just kind of happened.” He added:

You know how people constantly tell you they’re like, you know, when you’re least expected it’s going to happen when you’re not looking for it.

He detailed how they actually met about 16 or 17 years ago before Gomez was just leaving Disney to make her own music. No one remembered that time except the actress’ mother.

The couple kept a low-key romance before they officially made it public on social media last year. The romance between Blanco and Gomez remains the talk of the town as they have been posting a lot of PDA moments on their platforms.
