The Duchess of Sussex received a very extravagant gift on Valentine’s Day. And it doesn’t appear to be from her stingy husband Harry

The Duchess of Sussex received a very lavish gift from her husband for Valentine’s Day.

Meghan Markle, 43, is a clear lover of luxury jewels, having donned thousands of pounds worth during her current trip to Vancouver for the Invictus Games 2025.

Last year, she received a dazzling new addition from Prince Harry, to mark Valentine’s Day; and no doubt she will add yet another sparkler to her collection in a few days as February 14 rolls around again.

Prince Harry, 40, purchased a pair of £1,620 Diamond Cascade earrings for his wife from California-based jewellers Maya Brenner, according to Hello!.

The gift was particularly thoughtful of Harry given Meghan’s love the luxury brand, which was created by Brenner, a mother, social worker, and entrepreneur, who built her business from the ground up.

The Los Angeles-based designer admitted in 2019 that she found it ‘a little nerve-wracking’ when she saw the former actress wearing one of her necklaces during a stroll in Toronto in December 2016.

The delicate chain had an ‘H’ and ‘M’ charms – an early indication of the seriousness of their relationship.

Speaking to Hello! at the time, Maya admitted she feared the ‘Meghan Effect’ would leave her struggling to keep up with a spike in demand.

‘It’s like a Las Vegas slot machine when you pull the handle and the reel starts spinning,’ she said. ‘I could just see the orders come in hard and fast.’

Explaining how she had to temporarily shut down the site after her brand was linked to the then-actress, Maya continued: ‘I was very excited to see her wearing it, but I was cautious, too.

‘We make everything by hand, and I was conscious of the fact I didn’t want to take all these orders and not be able to fulfil them.’

Meghan first publicly wore the necklace while shopping in Toronto after Harry made a 1,700-mile diversion to see her while he was on his way back to the UK from the Caribbean.

The Duchess, based in Canada at the time, was filming US drama ‘Suits’ when Harry stopped off on his way to London from Barbados, where he was undergoing official engagements.

The 14-karat gold necklace, featuring two letters, cost around £240, with an additional £48 for more letters.

Maya’s products are loved by celebrities and the likes of Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson, and Kristen Bell have all been spotted in her products.

It comes after Meghan Markle let her engagement ring take centre stage as she appeared at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games on Saturday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has gone for low-key luxe, with exception of her £120,000 engagement ring, which took centre stage when she planted a kiss on Prince Harry‘s lips as he took to the stage at the Opening Ceremony on Saturday night.

That one sparkler aside, there’s been no necklaces on show, and just a collection of subtle bangles – albeit Cartier – and tiny hoop earrings.

A behind-the-scenes shot with singer Nelly Furtado showed the Duchess without her wedding band on, with just a signet pinky ring on her left hand.

The Duchess’s choice of jewellery has allowed her three carat engagement ring to shine and royal fans were able to see the latest iteration of the band which has gone through several transformations over the years.

Prince Harry proposed to Meghan in 2017 with a cushion-cut diamond, estimated to be between 2.5 and 3 carats, that he had sourced from Botswana – where the couple took their first holiday together.

Surrounding the main stone are two smaller, round diamonds from Princess Diana‘s personal jewellery collection.

The original ring, which is estimated to be worth around £120,000, had a plain gold band crafted by Cleave & Company, the late Queen Elizabeth’s regular jeweller.

However, within less than two years, the engagement ring underwent a significant transformation.

Its new design, which Meghan showcased for the first time at Trooping the Colour in 2019, featured a band that was considerably thinner than the original.

In 2022’s Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie claimed it was the Duke of Sussex who had made the first alterations to Meghan’s ring. Harry commissioned jeweller Lorraine Schwartz to resize and reset the ring with a new diamond band.

The refreshed design featured a thin, micro-pavé band instead and was paired with a conflict-free diamond eternity band which symbolised their expanding family.

In 2022, there was further speculation that Meghan altered the ring for a second time when she attended the Invictus Games in The Hague, and it appeared that she had added additional diamonds to the setting surrounding the central diamond.

Fast forward to 2023, and the ring was notably absent for a number of appearances at the Invictus Games, reportedly due to repairs for a loose stone.

But for this year’s games, Meghan’s rings are once again taking centre stage.

The Duchess showed them off as she kissed Harry in between cheering with the crowds at the opening ceremony of the games which saw Katy Perry and Nelly Furtardo perform.
