Looking back, Keanu Reeves called a lawsuit the craziest thing a fan has ever done. The incident took place over a decade ago, and has rarely been discussed since, given how absurd the claims were. It actually resulted in Reeves himself having to go to court.

The actor recalled, “Accuse me of being a father. I had to go to court. It was horrible. I didn’t do it. I’m not the dad.”

So what was this all about, and who is Karen Sala?

Sala claimed to be the mistress, and was looking for a $3 million settlement, along with monthly spousal support of $150,000. Sala went on to claim that Keanu used hypnosis to disguise himself and impregnate her…

In January of 2010, the lawsuit was finally dismissed. According to the Toronto Star, the lawsuit was baseless and deemed a waste of time.

“An Ontario judge dismissed a paternity suit against actor Keanu Reeves on Thursday, ruling that any trial would be a waste of limited judicial resources.
“Judge Fred Graham told a Barrie, Ont., court that Salas allegations were so incredible no reasonable judge would accept them.”

For Keanu, the priority instead was to get better with age.

Keanu Reeves Went After Hollywood After He Was Tricked Into Making The Film, The Watcher

Keanu has been a class act throughout his career. However, there was a certain incident that did trigger a lawsuit from the actor. This also tends to be forgotten about, given that it took place following his fame with The Matrix back in 2000. It was believed that Keanu agreed to the film, The Watcher. However, things take a bizarre twist after it is alleged that Reeves’ signature was not actually his. Keanu says he was tricked into the film.

The Guardian wrote, “Keanu Reeves has claimed that he was press-ganged into starring in the serial killer thriller The Watcher after a friend forged his signature on the contract. Unable to conclusively prove the forgery, Reeves says that he finally agreed to take the role rather than face a protracted legal battle.”

Directed by Keanu’s friend Joe Charbanic, it was said that Reeves wasn’t content with his “minor” role in the film. Keanu went on to state he didn’t like the script either.

“I never found the script interesting, but a friend of mine forged my signature on the agreement,” he tells the Calgary Sun. “I couldn’t prove he did and I didn’t want to get sued, so I had no other choice but to do the film.”

The film was a miss in the end, getting an approval rating of 11% on Rotten Tomatoes.
