Mary Joe Winkler, the HBO line producer on the series, is a pioneer in Green production

The 4th season of True Detective, set in Alaska, was shot in Iceland with Truenorth.

It was a very inspiring process to work with HBO on True Detective for the team and they are very thankful for that opportunity.

Mary Joe Winkler, the HBO line producer on the series, is a pioneer in Green production, and fortunately saw the potential in working ́Green’ in Iceland.

We learned a whole lot from her, and are continuing to make production in Iceland ´Green´.

Iceland, with it´s sustainable geothermal water and hydro electric stations, proved to be a fantastic place for making the shoot sustainable. It has resulted in True Detective Night Country winning the Screen International, Sustainable Global Production Award 2024, at the Cannes Film Festival.

The team at Truenorth worked hard on reaching this goal while filming in Iceland, to make Green filming the new norm, around the globe.
