Under The Bridge is Disney+’s latest gripping watch with subscribers keen to know about its future.

The eight-part crime drama delves into the tragic story of teenager Reena Virk, who was brutally murdered in the 1990s by her school peers after a party.

A manhunt was conducted and Reena’s body was discovered eight days later at the Gorge Inet, a major waterway on Vancouver Island in Canada.

The series delves into the events that led to her death as well as what happened after, including what her attackers were thinking as they carried out the assault.

Given that it is an emotional watch, fans are curious to know if there will be more to come from the show.

Will there be an Under The Bridge season 2?

Under The Bridge was originally released on Hulu in the US back in April before making its way to the UK on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 12.

And while it has already proved to be a talking point among subscribers, it is very unlikely that there will be a second season of Under The Bridge for a number of reasons.

Firstly, prior to its release, the crime drama was labelled as a miniseries, indicating that there wouldn’t be any more series to come.

Secondly, the show is not fictional but an account of a real-life tragedy, with the events adapted from the book of the same name by author and journalist Rebecca Godfrey.

As these events really took place, it is improbable that Hulu and Disney+ will commission a second series which wouldn’t follow the narrative of what actually happened.

Another key reason why Under The Bridge won’t be back is because author Godfrey has since passed away.

It was announced that the 54-year-old had died on October 3, 2022 with her agent Christy Fletcher confirming that she had died of “complications” from lung cancer.

Godfrey had written three books, The Torn Skirt, Under The Bridge and Peggy which is to be published posthumously in August.

Under The Bridge stars Killers Of The Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone as Detective Cam Bentland who was at the heart of the investigation.

She is joined by Daisy Jones And The Six’s Riley Keough as the late Godfrey and relative newcomer Vritika Gupta as the victim Reena Virk.

Some of the other stars include Javon Walton, Chloe Guidry, Archie Panjabi and Aiyana Goodfellow, just to name a few.
