It’s no secret that the ‘Rain Man’ star has been absent from much of Suri Cruise’s life….but now he is regretting it.
Fathers and fans alike will be devastated to learn of a disturbing report regarding Tom Cruise’s relationship with his daughter from his previous wife, Katie Holmes. Who among us can’t relate to the longing for lost time and the desire to repair familial bonds?
Well, reportedly, the Top Gun star is feeling “guilty” about not being present for his daughter Suri Cruise’s childhood and is keen to get in touch with her as she turned 18 last week. Cruise, 61, was required to give Holmes, the mother of his daughter, child support. Nevertheless, The Color of Money star is exempt from paying for her expenses now that their daughter is 18.
As per the most recent report published in Heat Magazine, Holmes, 45, has informed her former spouse that he is no longer required in their daughter’s life. But regrettably, Cruise is determined to reunite with his young daughter, who is now an adult with the wisdom to forge her own path.
Tom Cruise’s Daughter to Forge Her Own Path Without Father’s ‘Help’?
It is no secret that Tom Cruise has been absent from much of Suri Cruise’s life, which he admits and feels guilty about. Despite his efforts to stay informed about her well-being, he acknowledges that he has not been as present in her life as he would like to be.
At times, it seems like children in Hollywood mature faster than the rest of the population. Because, we can bet that Suri Cruise was not that long ago a cute toddler being driven around by her famous parents, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
As she turned 18 on April 18, her father might get even less involved, per a recent Heat Magazine article. After filing for divorce from the actor in 2012, Holmes was granted sole custody of her daughter; court records indicated that he would also cover expenses, such as those related to her education and medical care.
He has reportedly not been involved in his daughter’s life much, and since their financial arrangement is set to expire on Suri’s 18th birthday, an insider told the outlet that Holmes believes her daughter does not need Cruise—or his wallet.
“Katie’s very clear that Suri doesn’t need Tom’s money to be happy or afford the life they’re accustomed to. Katie’s made plenty of her own money and she can take care of her daughter and send her to whatever college she wants. Suri is going to be quite the superstar, whether she goes into business or Hollywood. But one thing that’s very clear as far as Katie’s concerned is that she doesn’t need Tom’s help to get ahead. She’s got the brains, talent, and beauty to make it to the top all on her own.”
Following their brief courtship in 2005, Cruise and Holmes welcomed their child into the world the following year. The couple practiced Scientology, which is a combination of spirituality and science. However, almost six years after getting married, the actress filed for divorce, allegedly because she wanted to be free of the religion’s restrictions for both herself and her daughter.

The insider from Heat Magazine went on to claim that Tom Cruise, who is a very involved parent to his other kids whom he adopted with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman, is interested in establishing a “better relationship with her [Suri]”.
“Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life, but insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time. He made that deal to allow her and her mother to live their own lives because that was what Katie wanted. But now Suri’s officially an adult, he feels she’s old enough to make her own choices, and he wants to reach out and build a better relationship with her.”
According to a 2016 report from Page Six, the father and daughter have not spoken in a long time because the Church of Scientology prohibits members from socializing with nonbelievers. Reports state that Cruise has not seen her because his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, and her daughter are not Scientologists.
As per one source:
“If he wanted to see her, he could see her. Even people in prison have a right to see their children.”Anyway, here’s to hoping that Cruise and his daughter can find a way to reconcile and forge a stronger, more meaningful relationship moving forward. Love, after all, knows no bounds, and it is never too late to mend fences and bridges.
