Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have one of the most infamous celebrity divorces. The couple married in 2014 after spending 10 years together and have six children: Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, Pax, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15. Two years after their wedding, Angelina filed for divorce after an abusive incident on an aircraft that their kids witnessed. So, which of Brad’s six children no longer speak to him? Here’s what to know about his relationships with his kids.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s six kids have contentious relationships with their father. Angelina adopted Maddox in 2002 as a single mom. As a couple, Brad and Angelina then adopted Zahara Marley in 2005. They had Shiloh, their first biological child, in 2006. Brad and Angelina adopted Pax from Vietnam in 2007, and Angelina gave birth to twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline in 2008.

So, what happened between Brad and Angelina that led to their divorce? According to an FBI report, the couple had an altercation in an airplane in 2016 with their children present. Brad reportedly “grabbed” Angelina “by the head” and then grabbed her by the shoulders in the back of the plane,” Today reports. He punched the ceiling of the airplane repeatedly. One of their kids asked Angelina if she was OK, and Brad told the child that Angelina was “ruining the family.” Angelina reportedly retreated under a blanket with her kids, and Brad went on to spill wine and beer over her.

As for the kids, Angelina claimed that Brad “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” during the incident. Angelina’s legal team has since maintained that Brad expressed physically abusive behavior to her before 2016.
Brad and Angelina’s kids have distanced themselves from Brad. So, which of the kids still speak to Brad as of 2024? An insider told In Touch Weekly in October 2023 that Brad mended fences with Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox, and regularly sees them. Brad also reportedly speaks to Pax and Zahara, but they are not close. “He lost a lot of precious time with them during the custody battle, and he’s determined not to miss any more,” the source shared.

Maddox is the only child who reportedly doesn’t speak to Brad. “He loves Maddox dearly, and even though they’re still estranged, Brad will always hold out hope for reconciliation,” the insider added.

It’s unclear if Brad Pitt will ever be able to completely mend fences with Pax Jolie-Pitt. While the insider who spoke to In Touch said Pitt is working on repairing his relationships with his kids and speaks to Pax, Pax wrote a scathing Instagram post about Brad in 2020.

“Happy Father’s Day to this world-class a***hole!” Pax posted to his private account, according to Stylecaster. “You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person. You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence. … So, Happy Father’s Day, you f***ing awful human being!”

One of Brad’s close friends told The Sun that Brad chose to stay in “dignified silence” after the post. “Brad has great respect for all of his children, and it’s depressing to see this dragged up,” the friend said. “It’s frustrating to see Brad being painted as some kind of ‘bad person’ when it’s far from the truth.”

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed to remove “Pitt” from her last name on her 18th birthday on May 27, 2024.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” a source told People regarding how Brad Pitt feels. “He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter. The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

Vivienne also chose to forgo “Pitt” from her last name on the playbill for The Outsiders musical, and Zahara introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” while joining the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at her college.
