The woman who inspired an obsessive stalker character in the Netflix show Baby Reindeer reportedly sent abusive messages to the politician who is widely expected to be the United Kingdom’s next prime minister. According to The Sun, Fiona Harvey inundated Labour leader Keir Starmer with 276 messages in under eight months in 2020, allegedly making personal attacks on him and his loved ones. The tabloid claims Harvey used an ableist slur against Starmer’s wife in one of the messages, while in another she called him a “stupid little boy.” In the latter email, Harvey allegedly continued to write menacingly: “Your life won’t be worth living.” Since identifying herself as the person who inspired the character of Martha, Harvey has denied stalking the show’s creator, comedian Richard Gadd, and claims she has never been convicted of stalking. She’s also said she intends to sue Gadd and Netflix for what she’s described as a “defamatory” depiction of her.
