Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey might be brothers from different mothers!
Fate often has a weird way of bringing people together, and after years of starring together and their world-famous bromance, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey might just be half-brothers in real life! It wasn’t some case of yellow journalism or speculation by a third party, but the actors themselves who confirmed that there is a high chance that the two are blood brothers.

Since last year, both actors in separate interviews have confirmed and made it clear that they might be related thanks to the simple evidence pointing towards it. While they haven’t done a DNA test yet, if they are in fact half brothers, it will turn out to be one of the biggest surprising coincidences in the whole wide world!
Woody Harrelson And Matthew McConaughey Might Be Half-Brothers IRL!
Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey were both born in Texas and have worked together since the start of their career in projects like EDtv and True Detective. Next starring in the AppleTV+ series Brother from Another Mother, it was revealed last year that they might actually be brothers from different mothers!
Harrelson’s dad was Charles Harrelson, an infamous hitman who also claimed he was behind John F Kennedy’s assassination. A bit of a womanizer, it was revealed that Harrelson Sr. was involved with McConaughey’s mother, Mary Kathleen, around the same time that McConaughey was conceived as Kathleen was going through her second divorce with his McConaughey’s ‘legal’ father James Donald McConaughey (via X).
This claim was made by the Interstellar star himself while on the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, where he stated it all started when his mother revealed to Harrelson that she knew his dad, while both families were vacationing together in Greece.
“We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that [Harrelson’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment.’”
Harrelson too later agreed to this claim during two separate appearances, once while on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Esquire’s Explain This interview.
Matthew McConaughey Is Hesitant To Take A DNA Test

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are already family and often spend quite a lot of time together with their families. While on the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, he even stated,
“You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line.”
Despite sharing a close relationship, the actor is very hesitant to take a DNA test.
“It’s a little easier for [Harrelson] to say, ‘Come on, let’s do it!,’ because what’s the skin in it for him? It’s a little harder for me, because he’s asking me to take a chance and go, ‘Wait a minute. You’re telling me that my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing it?’ I’ve got a little more skin in the game.”
However, his supposed brother Harrelson has a completely different take on the situation, as he stated to Colbert,
“We want to go and test, but for him, it’s a much more big deal because he feels like he’s losing a father. I’m like no, you’re gaining a different father and a brother.”
While many fans and even fellow celebs want them to take a DNA test to clear the mystery, it doesn’t matter much for Harrelson and McConaughey, who are brothers enough already.
