Production on Season 3 of Yellowjackets is currently underway.

As one of the biggest hit TV shows, fans are eager to know more about the upcoming third season.

The Showtime series wrapped its second season last year. Season 3 was greenlit at the end of 2022.

While the show is currently in production, we already know at least two stars joining, with one possibly returning if there’s a Season 4 order.

The show isn’t coming back until 2025.

The third season of Yellowjackets will not be premiering until 2025, executive producers Ashley LyleJonathan Lisco and Bart Nickerson told Deadline on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in January.

“I don’t think this year, I think early next year…we will learn more about the secrets that they’re keeping,” they teased.

Pre-production for the series was shut down just one day after the WGA strike began last May. The writers room for the show reopened in September 2023 after the Hollywood strikes ended.

The show is planned to run for five seasons – for now.

Showrunner and co-creator Ashley Lyle confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the plan is for the show to run for five seasons.

“Five is still currently the plan, but we’re big believers in the idea that the story will tell us when it’s over. We just want to tell the best story that we can and so that means not rushing, and it also means not dragging things out. And we’ll find the natural conclusion point,” she said.

They know how the show ends already – for now.

“We actually did [pitch the ending] as part of the pitch. For full transparency, the plan was a five-season plan, but just like the realities of television are, the plan is more detailed in the beginning because that’s what you’re working on. But we did actually pitch a last scene that … would still work…obviously, when we first pitched this we had ideas. And in season one, we’ve talked about them even further, and then even more in season two. But we pitched this show in 2019, and there’s a certain amount of hubris involved in thinking you’ll know exactly what’s going to happen six years in the future! So I think we like to leave ourselves open to our own creativity. And people change and grow, and I think stories change and grow similarly. But it’s a comfort to us that we do have a plan.”

Yellowjackets Season 3 officially started filming in May 2024 after the Hollywood strikes led to production delays.

The network revealed the first photos on social media, teasing what’s ahead with the caption, “We know you’re starving.”

Season 3 of the series will air in 2025. Showrunners Bart Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco are directing episode two episodes, with Bart taking on episode 301, and Jonathan directing episode 303, per Deadline.
