Keanu Reeves is riding high right now. As the voice of Shadow in the hit movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Reeves continues to be awesome, hilarious, and badass all at the same time. But in 2023, he was the victim of a bizarre heist, which, apparently, seems to have finally been thwarted. And, it’s a strange case that seems straight out of one of Reeves’ John Wick movies.

According to CNN Chile, and reported by The Daily Beast, Reeves’ home had been broken into by ski-mask-wearing intruders. At the same time, Reeves was dealing with a stalker, who claimed to be related to him. During this period, a $9,000 Rolex Submariner belonging to Reeves went missing and stayed missing for over a year. But now, police have recovered the watch in Santiago, Chile. One man has been arrested for the crime.

How were the cops able to connect the stolen Rolex with Keanu Reeves? After all, a lot of cool dudes love this style of watch. After Sean Connery wore a Rolex Submariner as James Bond in Dr. No, the rest is history. However, Reeves’ Rolex was more distinctive than Connery’s—or perhaps, anyone else’s—because it was engraved with the phrase: “2021, JW4, thank you, The John Wick Five.”

According to GQ, Reeves gifted his stuntmen watches with this exact engraving for the filming of John Wick 4, which means this watch must have been his. As of this writing, Reeves has not commented on the retrieval of the watch. But, considering that he recently said that he may not be able to do a fifth John Wick movie, this watch could be a very precious piece of treasure that he’ll be happy to have back.

The only remaining mystery is: How did the watch get from LA to Chile in the span of a year? Maybe the answer to that question could be the source of a new John Wick movie—if we’re lucky.
