One of the biggest mysteries in Agatha All Along was the identity of Joe Locke’s character, “The Teen.” In the latest episode, during a poignant moment following Alice Wu’s death, his identity was revealed as Wiccan, also known as Billy Kaplan and the reincarnated Billy Maximoff.
From the start of the series, fans suspected that The Teen was indeed Billy, but the confirmation came when Wiccan was seen wearing a crown similar to Wanda’s and fully manifesting his magical powers.
We now know that Billy Maximoff has previously appeared in the MCU in WandaVision. The character was portrayed by three different actors: Ari Friedman as a baby, Baylen Bielit as a 5-year-old, and Julian Hilliard when the character was about 10 years old.
It’s not surprising that Julian Hilliard was recast, as the events in Agatha All Along required an older version of Billy. This is where Joe Locke comes in as the fourth actor to take on the role.
Recently, Hilliard addressed the recasting on his personal X account, expressing his full support for whatever role Locke is playing in the MCU.
Joe Locke is awesome y’all… I fully support whatever role he plays in the MCU 🤓
— Julian Hilliard (@_JulianHilliard) October 11, 2024
At 13 years old, Hilliard is considered too young to portray Wiccan, especially since Locke is currently 21. While the specific reason for Wiccan’s significant aging since we last saw him in the MCU remains unclear, it likely relates to the origins of him and his brother, Tommy, who were known for their rapid aging.
However, Hilliard may still make a return to the MCU in flashback sequences, and many fans have commented on how well he portrayed Billy in the show.
