Deadpool's MCU future quietly confirmed, but you might not like it

Deadpool will return to the MCU at some point, but it won’t be in a sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine.

Since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, it’s unlocked a whole new set of universes for Marvel Studios to explore, which explains the massive rush to get Deadpool into the MCU to relentlessly make fun of it.

Our Merc with a Mouth isn’t going anywhere anytime soon either, as there are still plenty of questions left unanswered, like what universe is Deadpool from? What happened to the heroes in the Void? And why on Earth was Thor crying!?

Ryan Reynolds has commented on the future of Deadpool in the MCU, and while he’s happy to be there, he thinks the superhero is better off as a side character rather than a main one.

Reynolds said, “If he comes back, it’s gonna be in someone else’s movie. Channing Tatum…I would happily be a fifth banana in his movie or anyone else’s.”

The film he’s referring to there is the Gambit spin-off film, which Marvel Studios is apparently looking into following the fan reaction to Gambit’s appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Honestly, it’d make sense for Deadpool to become a guest character in other stories. After all, his fourth-wall breaking works best when he’s doing it to the confusion of other characters who don’t know what he’s talking about or who he’s talking to.

That said it’s easy to picture the character in massive team-up films like Avengers: Secret Wars, but what other heroes could he partner with aside from the X-Men or perhaps Spider-Man?

Either way, it’s clear Deadpool is sticking around for the time being, but don’t expect to see him in any more Deadpool films as it seems like Reynolds has less ambitious plans for the character moving forward.
