While Alien: Romulus is currently in focus due to the movie being a success in cinemas, its rival, the Predator franchise, is also alive and well, and we actually have some information for you about the future of that franchise as well.
The most recent installment, Prey, was released on August 5, 2022, to positive reviews, and Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the movie, is currently working on another standalone movie that is scheduled to come out sometime in 2025. Badlands, as the movie is titled, will continue the franchise in a proper way, and it seems that we will have some interesting moments in that movie.
Namely, we can confirm that the movie is currently being filmed in New Zealand and the guys at AVP Galaxy, a dedicated fan site, have provided us with some plot and casting-related leaks that are certainly intriguing! If you want to know more, please keep reading our report!
As per AVP Galaxy, Borderlands is currently being filmed in New Zealand and while we still don’t have any precise release info, the fans have managed to find out more details about the plot, as some initial details have leaked online, as per AVP Galaxy:
A groundbreaking film in which one of the two main storylines delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, their familial ties are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions.
As you can see, the movie is definitely going to have a different approach from the previous Predator movies, and that could be a very refreshing take on the whole series. Alongside the plot details, AVP Galaxy has also revealed a casting detail about the film’s main heroine:
[THIA/TESSA] – This casting is for a dual character, and describes both characters. Character identifies as female or non-binary, open ethnicity, mid 20s – mid 40s. Thia has spent most of her life in a laboratory and is now embarking on her first big adventure in the world. She is incredibly smart, witty, enthusiastic, and unflappable. She has an innate disregard for danger, not because she’s fearless, but simply because she’s naive. Strong comedy chops required. // The other sister, Tessa, has a militant intensity when it comes to achieving her family’s goals and mission objectives. She will not let anything get in her way, not even her twin sister.
This definitely seems intriguing, and we can assume that the fans will like this new approach, as it might bring a much-needed breath of fresh air to the franchise. At the same time, some are comparing this to The Acolyte, which will definitely make the movie a target of “true fans,” so we’re definitely in for an exciting period when the movie comes into the spotlight.
