The actor shares Arlo and a 4-year-old son whose name has not yet been revealed with his wife Leighton Meester
Adam Brody and his daughter Arlo love watching movies together, and the father-daughter duo recently ventured into a new genre.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the actor, 44, appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show alongside his Nobody Wants This castmates, where he spoke about the “small role” he played in the 2002 horror film The Ring — and how his 9-year-old daughter convinced him to let her watch it.
“My daughter, who’s 9 — and this was her lead, this was not me. I would never push this on her,” Brody clarifies before continuing the story.
“I have a small part in The Ring, the horror movie from, you know, the 2000s,” Brody says, adding that Arlo “wanted to dabble” in viewing the film. “And she did and she took it well!”
Brody says that Arlo now uses this fact to brag to her friends, saying, “Now she tells everyone, ‘I don’t understand why people are scared. I’ve seen The Ring.’ She throws it around.”
After watching Brody’s film, the dad of two decided to show his daughter another horror movie: The Sixth Sense. However, Arlo did not respond as well to this one.

“But then, actually, we watched The Sixth Sense and that was a mistake,” he admits. “She was honestly crying for a few days.”

Last month, the Nobody Wants This star shared that he and Meester have an open and honest relationship with their two children while appearing as a guest on Today with Hoda and Jenna.
Asked if he’s a super strict, “helicopter” dad or the head of a “free-range” household, Brody shared, “Of course, I’m going to feel like it’s the perfect balance of all of it.” He continued, “But yeah, I don’t know. [We’re] very honest. We have some very truthful conversations, for better or worse. But other than that, I wouldn’t say overly strict.”
“There is a helicopter, you know, to keep them safe,” he added. “I’m not overly strict but I see the sharp edges, literally. And their heads aren’t gonna… I want to keep those heads maintained.”
