While we can only imagine the fun had on the set of Stranger Things, the reality of its impending end looms nearer. Yet, while some may dread bidding farewell, others, like Joe Keery – best known for his portrayal of the lovable “dad of the group” Steve Harrington – are already eyeing the next chapter of their careers.

In a recent interview with Variety, Keery discussed his transformative role in Fargo and reflected on his time with Stranger Things, acknowledging its profound impact on his life and career. He expressed gratitude for the experience, saying: “It’s been a core part of everyone’s lives, and had such a profound impact on my life, and what basically made my career. I owe so much to everybody there.”

I love the character, I love the story that we’re telling, and the references of the movies that I grew up with. It’ll be weird to say goodbye, obviously. But there’s a part of every story that has to end and it feels like we’re getting towards it.Joe Keery, via Variety

Keery admits that saying goodbye will be strange, but he recognizes the inevitability of endings, noting, “I think everybody probably feels that way.” Despite his readiness to move on, he acknowledges the bittersweetness of parting ways with the show and the people he’s grown close to on set.

As he looks ahead to new projects, Keery embraces the present moment, cherishing each day on set with his castmates.

I’m trying to really live in the present and appreciate every day that I’m on set and get to spend with these people who I love. That’s like a good way to try to lead your life in general, just focus on the present.Joe Keery, via Variety

So, while the end of Stranger Things may mark the closing of a beloved chapter, it also signals the beginning of new adventures for Joe Keery and his fellow cast members. As we eagerly anticipate what the future holds, one thing remains certain: the legacy of Stranger Things will endure, and the bonds forged on set will last a lifetime!
