'The Acolyte' Star Amandla Stenberg Is Being Harassed by Toxic 'Star Wars' Fans, and It Is Inexcusable!

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ has been making headlines recently, but not for positive reasons—it was canceled after just eight episodes. While Lucasfilm and Disney haven’t provided specific reasons, insiders indicate that high production costs and low viewership were key factors.

The show was controversial even before its debut, so many were not surprised by the cancellation.

The show faced review-bombing campaigns, which might not have been as impactful if the series hadn’t also suffered from low quality, including poor acting, scripting, directing, and character development.

As previously mentioned, it came as no surprise when Lucasfilm decided to cancel the project, even though Headland expressed interest in exploring stories for a potential season 2.

However, if critics can organize, so can the fans. Shortly after the cancellation, a petition to renew the show was launched on Change.org. We’ve been tracking this campaign closely and wanted to provide an update.

The petition currently has over 80,000 signatures. Despite the strong response, it’s unlikely to change Disney’s stance, as we discussed in detail in a separate report. The show is simply too expensive, with record-low viewership and negative critical reception—factors that make it a risky investment.

Just days after the renewal petition was initiated, another petition to de-canonize the show appeared on Change.org. While it has gathered over 26,000 signatures, it still falls short of being truly impactful.
