You Won’t Believe This: Tom Cruise Hires Stunt Double to Turn Pages in Mission Impossible – All to Avoid a Papercut!

Can you believe this? Tom Cruise hired stunt double to turn pages in a book to avoid a papercut when shooting latest Mission Impossible film

Tom Cruise and stunt double filming are the subject of wild rumours. Tom Cruise is known for doing his own stunts. This includes things like riding a motorbike off a cliff, hanging from the side of an aeroplane and, of course, an Olympic stunt that required a year of preparation.
According to reports, Tom Cruise’s stunt double on the set of the most recent Mission: Impossible film, The Final Reckoning, filled in during one scene so that Ethan Hunt could turn pages and keep the famous person from getting a papercut.

On Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast show, co-host Siân Welby talked candidly about the rumours circulating around the filming of The Final Reckoning and how one scene just made Ethan Hunt turn pages. The actor apparently had his stunt double film the scene for him rather than doing it himself, as quoted in a report by Cinema Blend.

According to a different report by The Mirror, there was a reason why Cruise asked his stunt double to fill in for the apparently unimportant scene. When playing Ethan Hunt, the veteran actor is renowned for carrying out almost all of the labour-intensive tasks.

He contributes financially to the franchise and its production, allegedly making additional payments during COVID to support Mission and assisting in franchise-related decision-making. Filming for the last two Mission installments has been going on for years and years, so it’s a big load.

Accordingly, Christoper McQuarrie, the director of Mission: Impossible, previously told CBS News that the challenge of making a Tom Cruise movie is nearly the opposite of all other action films.

In most action film productions, the difficulty lies in constantly trying to conceal that it’s a stuntman and not the actor. On the contrary, ‘Mission: Impossible’ attempts to demonstrate that it’s Tom and not a stuntman.

This is a good problem to have, as it keeps audiences interested and coming back to see the 62-year-old actor in theatres.

Welby noted that the audience takes for granted all of the stuff Cruise does to make his movies cinematic, and she also noted how hard it is for the actor to do what he is doing.

Until confirmation from McQuarrie, Cruise, or someone close to production, it is unclear whether this is a rumour or something that really happened on the set of the new movie.
