Hollywood may be slated for a Texas takeover.
Lone Star State celebs Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson nabbed an Emmy nomination for their roles as executive producers on the fourth season of HBO’s mystery-thriller anthology show, “True Detective: Night Country.”
McConaughey portrays Rust Cohle, a skilled but troubled professional, while Harrelson depicts Martin Hart, a hot-headed detective with questionable judgment. McConaughey won the “Best Actor in a Drama Series” award in 2014, the same year he won the Academy Award for “Best Actor” in “Dallas Buyers Club.”

Over the years, McConaughey and Harrelson have grown so close and starred in so many projects together, they’ve speculated over their kinship as “half-brothers” due to their Texas family ties.
“My kids call him Uncle Woody, his kids call me Uncle Matthew,” McConaughey told host Kelly Ripa during an interview published September 2023. The actor had just revealed that his mom “knew” Harrelson’s dad when they both frequented the same West Texas stomping grounds.
“We all went, ‘What? What, are you going to leave it there?'” he added, commenting on his mom’s revelation. “Now we gotta go do some DNA tests.”
While it’s unclear whether McConaughey and Harrelson may or may not be half-brothers, one thing is certain — the two make quite the pair when it comes to Texas teams.
