While speaking with IndieWire, Foster discussed the positive reception and how it is affecting chances of season 2 happening. She teased plans for Nobody Wants This season 2, including how the next installment’s story and pacing would differ from season 1. While much of the current focus remains on the show’s reception as its first week on Netflix continues to unfold, Foster is already looking ahead to seeing how the series can continue. Check out her comments below:
We’re getting a really positive response. And so I think the conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential Season 2. The story in Season 1 unfolds really slowly. And so I think if there is a Season 2 I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!
What This Means For Nobody Wants This Season 2
There Is Great Potential For A Renewal
Foster’s comments demonstrate that she and her creative team are invested in continuing the story beyond Nobody Wants This season 1’s ending. The romance is largely a slow burn in season 1, but this approach will not be abandoned in a potential season 2, as the focus will stay on carefully developing Joanne and Noah’s dynamic and how it is brought to life by Bell and Brody’s stellar chemistry. Between the creative team’s intentions and the positive reviews from critics and general audiences, there is widespread interest in seeing what is next for Joanne and Noah.
All of these factors are promising, but Netflix will only renew Nobody Want This if its viewership is deemed significant enough. If it can earn a spot among Netflix’s top 10 this week and continues to stay there for the next few weeks, that will go a long way in ensuring that the romantic comedy is renewed. Nobody Wants This may also be helped by the fact that its production value is not as high as some of Netflix’s other series, particularly those in the science-fiction and fantasy genres.
Our Take On Erin Foster’s Comments
Nobody Wants This Season 2 Would Be Most Welcome
As unpredictable as the future can be for streaming series, it is a relief to know that Foster is already thinking about season 2 and continuing Joanne and Noah’s story. Led by the charming Bell and Brody, Nobody Wants This has a strong cast and is a genuinely humorous and sweet romantic comedy. Season 1 is an enjoyable and easy binge-watch experience, and if Netflix provides the series with a chance to allow the series to continue growing, Nobody Wants This season 2 could be just as wonderful.
