Agatha All Along ended on October 30, 2024, after nine exciting episodes that continued the story that started in WandaVision. It was a truly fun ride, and while the fans predicted most of the series’ important moments, the series still offered more than enough thrills and excitement for it to be called a proper hit.
Billy is one of the series’ breakout characters, and the dynamic that existed between him and Agatha was one of the series’ biggest moments. While Agatha is no more after that kiss with Rio (Lady Death), it seems that her and Billy’s story is not over yet.
We have teased how this could all tie into a potential Scarlet Witch story, but we have now received confirmation from the showrunner herself, Jac Schaeffer, who clearly stated that we can expect to see more of Agatha and Billy in the future. This is sure to make a lot of fans of the series happy.
As said, you probably know how it all ended. The Teen was revealed to be Wiccan, which is something we predicted, and Rio Vidal was revealed to be Lady Death, which we also predicted. At the same time, Agatha walked down the Witches’ Road, and the experience was cathartic for her. In a way. After the kiss with Rio, she died but returned in the form of a spirit, guiding Wiccan.
This is something taken from the comics, and many fans believe that this could lead to a potential crossover with Wanda, whose return is expected in a future project. At least one. The future is unclear, of course, but we do have some information taken from a recent interview showrunner Jack Schaeffer gave to Entertainment Weekly.
The intention is that, yes, he got what he was missing in that he successfully put Tommy’s soul into a body of that young man who was the victim of a teen prank. You know how these things go, and we’ll see in future properties if they stick to that narrative.
We loved the idea that Agatha would fully step into her mentor role in her nasty, nasty way, and that she would help Billy harness one of his biggest powers: to bring his brother back. It was a tricky thing to shoot because Tommy was not cast at that time, and so we had to shoot it in an obscure way.”
This statement confirms that while the series is over, there is more to expect from both Agatha and Billy, considering how their roles have changed now and how that might influence the future, especially in light of how the series changed over time:
We were building a really beautiful tapestry of what the Road was. We had really gorgeous ideas like all the trees on the Road were dead witches. Anyone who had died on the Road became a tree. Gorgeous ideas like that that were based on a lot of our really beautiful nature and witchcraft research. Then I thought, ‘What if he made it?’ And in that same thought was, ‘What if Agatha manipulated him into making it?’
Ultimately, after everything that happened in the series, the next question for Schaeffer was whether this was the end of the road for Billy and Agatha, and she gave us a pretty exciting tease:
I can’t speak to the direct handoff to the Vision show, but I think that people are meant to expect more of Billy and Agatha somewhere in the MCU. I don’t know what’s going on with that show, and I just wish them well. I love Paul Bettany so deeply, and I can’t wait to see what they do.
