Katy Perry’s six-year-long association with American Idol dates back to 2018. She bid a bittersweet farewell to the show after concluding its season 22 in May this year. As Katy embarks on her world tour ahead of the release of her sixth album, the show is actively searching for a replacement by another judge. Now, the question arises – Who will replace Katy Perry on American Idol? While there has been no confirmation about who will replace her, a few names have surfaced on the Internet suggesting the names of the new judge.
“It’s been interesting. It’s been something Disney has been really tightlipped about with me and Lionel [Richie] and Ryan [Seacrest]. We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back,” he added.
As per Luke Bryan, Katy Perry was the perfect judge; it would be difficult to find a match up to her level. Adding that the producers of American Idol are trying to pick out the perfect candidate, Luke added, “I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we’re just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide.”
On February 12, Katy Perry announced her exit from American Idol on Jimmy Kimmel’s show. The Firework artist joined the show in 2018 alongside singers Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Explaining the reason behind the same, the singer-cum-songwriter noted that she wanted to focus on her pop career and release new music. The season 22 finale that marked the last episode of Katy on the show saw a collection of Perry’s biggest hits being performed.
Katy Perry is now set to release her seventh studio LP. Additionally, she will launch her first world tour in six years in 2024. Her anticipated new single titled Woman’s World will be released on July 11.
