Here’s everything we know about Ransom Canyon season 2.
Note: This is a live article and will be updated throughout production and ahead of release with all the news and updates. Keep it bookmarked
When did Ransom Canyon get its season 2 renewal?
The renewal for season 2 came a few months after the series debuted and it was a bit of a surprise given that many of the shows it debuted around, with similar performance, were ultimately canceled.
Speaking about the renewal in a statement, showrunner April Blair said, “I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon! Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride.”
As we reported ahead of the official renewal, there were already rumblings about a writer’s room having already opened to ensure the show, if renewed, would get back into the saddle in a decent time and return without a 2-year wait.
The producing team for season 2 includes executive producers Joe Fazzio, April G. Blair, Kelli Breslin, and Adam D. Milch, with Amanda Johnson-Zetterström serving as co-executive producer. Lauren Moon takes on the role of supervising producer, while Paul Haapaniemi is credited as executive story editor.
We’ve got more analysis on the performance of the show in our full season 2 renewal status post, but here’s the headline stats:
The series spent four weeks in the English TV top 10s, picking up 183.6M viewing hours, equating to 23.3M views.
Ransom Canyon featured in the weekly country top 10s of 77 countries with top performers including Australia, the United States, Ireland, and others.
It spent 29 days in the US daily top 10s before dropping out.
Casting Updates for Ransom Canyon Season 2

Heidi Engerman and Ben Robson – Credits: Prince Jones/Jonny Marlow
On September 19th, as filming was getting underway, the first two prominent new cast members were confirmed: Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) and Heidi Engerman (Candyman). According to reports, Robson will play Oliver, “a big-city love interest for Quinn”, and Engerman is Sydney, “a larger-than-life character who is not to be underestimated.”
Soon after, Deadline reported that a couple of faces would be departing the show for season 2, with those being Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who played the father-son duo of Davis and Reid Collins.
Beyond that shake-up, we’re expecting the following main cast to return:
Josh Duhamel as Staten
Minka Kelly as Quinn
James Brolin as Cap
Lizzy Greene as Lauren
Garrett Wareing as Lucas
Marianly Tejada as Ellie
Jack Schumacher as Yancy
Casey W. Johnson as Kit (upped to series regular)
Philip Winchester as Dan
If you’re interested in featuring in Season 2 of Ransom Canyon, multiple casting calls for background actors have been issued, with a focus on local talent from New Mexico. More information can be found in this Instagram post, and we also know they were recently casting for various musicians.
What to Expect from Ransom Canyon Season 2
Note: this is an abbreviated version of our What to Expect guide here.
Season 2 of Ransom Canyon looks set to pick up with Quinn returning from her six-month New York Philharmonic stint, where she went to regain control of her life and save her dance hall from Austin Water & Power’s financial pressure. Back home, Staten faces betrayal as his father teams up with Davis Collins to oust him as Double K Ranch trustee, but with his grief over Randall’s death resolved and his love for Quinn finally acknowledged, Staten is ready to fight for his land and his future.
Meanwhile, Ellie and Yancy’s romance hits a major obstacle when a woman claiming to be his wife appears, leaving Ellie doubtful even as their chemistry lingers. Young couple Lucas and Lauren must contend with college choices and injuries that threaten their plans, while Reid begins stepping out of his father’s shadow, possibly opening the door to a new path.
AD
With the ensemble already rich, new faces will be limited, though Yancy’s supposed wife and an Austin Water & Power figure could bring added drama. If season 1 was about reopening wounds, season 2 will be about healing, as love, loyalty, and land all come under fire.
The departure of the Collins?
As mentioned earlier, with Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner not returning, this has some implications for the story in season 2.
Davis and Reid embody two fronts of the long-running Kirkland-Collins feud, one through the water pipeline battle with Staten and the other through the high school quarterback’s struggle to balance arrogance, grief, and hidden vulnerability. Their departure in season 2 would take out both the adult rivalry that drives the land conflict and the teenage thread that softens the Collins family dynamic, leaving a significant gap in the show’s intergenerational tension unless new characters or conflicts are brought in to keep the stakes alive.
If both characters exit in season 2, it essentially strips away the central rivalry between the Kirklands and Collinses that anchors the story’s conflict, suggesting a new direction. Without Davis, the land and water rights battle loses a key instigator, and without Reid, the teenage subplot that humanizes the Collins side of the feud disappears.

Post-Production
We first received word about the production timelines in July 2025, when we reported that the streamer was targeting a mid-September start and wrap-up in January 2026.
That has indeed been the case, with production confirmed to be underway as of September 17th. The production is expected to run for approximately four months, with a scheduled wrap date set for January 14, 2026.
The series returns to Netflix’s production hub in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the US, with the production also known to film in nearby towns including Santa Fe, Mora County, San Miguel, and Las Vegas. The reported budget for the show is estimated to be somewhere between $50 and $70 million for the entire season.
When will Ransom Canyon season 2 be on Netflix?
To date, Netflix hasn’t officially announced any window for Ransom Canyon season 2, but given the production schedule, we’re currently predicting a mid-to-late 2026 return (we’d guess somewhere around September/October for those Fall vibes). Of course, as soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.
