Romantic comedies just aren’t what they once were, but if you’re missing those 2000s classics, Nobody Wants This should do the trick. Though modern rom-coms have a lot to offer, they tend to miss out on all those delicious tropes of decades past. Screenwriters have started moving away from traditional, somewhat predictable plot devices, but that doesn’t mean we love them any less.

Nobody Wants This season 1 premiered in September 2024, and season 2 just hit Netflix in October 2025. Overall, the series holds an impressive 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Praises center on Bell and Brody’s chemistry, its portrayal of modern dating, and the witty dialogue. Where Nobody Wants This truly shines, however, is through its incorporation of traditional rom-com tropes.

Romantic comedies weren’t new in the 2000s, but this decade saw a boom in the genre. The movies were tropey and cheesy, and that’s exactly how we liked them. Nobody Wants This captures that same, giddy-kicking-and-squealing feeling, especially at the end of season 2. In these final moments, we saw just about every trope in the book.

Without giving too much away, I can guarantee that the ending of Nobody Wants This season 2 will bring you right back to your favorite 2000s rom-coms. The music, the two lovers desperately looking for one another after a blowout, even some iconic LA locations like the Urban Light sculpture (featured in No Strings Attached and Valentine’s Day)—all classic rom-com staples we have been desperately missing.

Nobody Wants This Is An Easy Weekend Binge

The best thing about Nobody Wants This is that, rather than a two-hour movie, it’s a full, ongoing TV show. Currently, there are two seasons and 10 episodes, each about 25 minutes long. This makes the total runtime of season 1 about 259 minutes (4.31 hours) and season 2 approximately 261 minutes (4.35 hours). So, you can make it all the way through Nobody Wants This‘ two seasons in just over 8.5 hours.

This makes Nobody Wants This the perfect fall-weekend binge. Put on some cozy pajamas, grab your favorite ice cream and a pal, and enjoy that good-old 2000s rom-com feeling in a modern TV-format wrapper.
