Sarah Ferguson’s friend has today shared the real reason why the former duchess will no longer live with ex-husband Andrew anymore. On Thursday night, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles had started a “formal process” to remove the style, titles and honours of Andrew, formerly known as Prince Andrew.
In a statement, it was confirmed that the prince will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. The statement also confirmed that Andrew, who is facing such action as a result of scandals surrounding his previous association with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, would be leaving his Royal Lodge property in Windsor.
The King’s brother, who denies all accusations against him, will now move to a property on the monarch’s private Sandringham estate instead; however, his ex-wife, Sarah, who has lived with the royal at the 30-room Windsor mansion for years, will not be going with him.
Instead, it has been reported that Sarah – who has also lost her duchess title – will make her own housing arrangements.
While many have questioned why this is, a friend of Sarah’s has confirmed that it was a decision made by the former duchess, who has also faced her own scandals as a result of her previous friendship with Epstein.
Speaking on Channel 5’s Vanessa show today, Lizzie Cundy summarised why Sarah was no longer going to live with her ex-husband anymore in just a seven-word statement.
She said: “She doesn’t want to live with Andrew.”

Lizzie then said: “Now she (Sarah) wants to draw the line and hopefully move on from this.”
The TV personality also emphasised that Sarah feels remorse for some of her mistakes, including her 2011 apologetic email to Epstein after he was released from prison for child sex offences. In the 2011 email, Sarah called Epstein her “supreme friend” and apologised for criticising him in a media interview. Her spokesperson said the email was only sent as Sarah feared being sued for defamation.
Lizzie said on the Channel 5 talk show on Friday: “I think she’s (Sarah) had a rough ride with it, I’m not saying get the violins out, but it has been tough for her. She’s made the most huge silly mistakes…and no one knows that more than Sarah Ferguson today.”
Sarah has been keeping a low profile since the scandals surrounding her email to Epstein broke just weeks ago. It is not known where she plans to leave once she leaves Royal Lodge.
