Wednesday Will Remain Kooky, Spooky, and Fun in Season 3
Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton’s supernatural journey is far from over.

AFTER TWO SEASONS on Netflix, it’s clear that Wednesday has carved out its own very specific niche on the streaming giant. With fun visuals, a compelling mystery for each season, and the full creative cooperation of star Jenna Ortega and producer/director Tim Burton, the show has become a perfect entry-point of gothic camp for our modern times.
For past generations, Burton has been a vital part of bringing those stories to life. Movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas (which Burton actually didn’t direct himself), have all served that role in the past—but now, the mass popularity of Wednesday (along with the easy accessibility of Netflix) have created a whole new touchstone for an entirely new generation of people.
But what’s next? Wednesday may have concluded its second season, but that certainly shouldn’t be the end. The Addams Family has run for decades and decades in all sorts of forms, and as the Netflix show centered on the family’s sardonic daughter keeps its popularity up (and dabbles with super powers and the supernatural), there should be plenty more stories to tell, right?
Keep reading below and we’ll let you know all there is to know about the future of Wednesday, and the show’s third season.
Will Wednesday return for season 3?

Netflix
Yes! Wednesday was officially renewed for season 3 back in July. The show’s co-creators and showrunners, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, spoke to Netflix’s Tudum about their plan for the third go-around for Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy.
“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Gough said. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.” Millar added, before also adding that even more Addams family members will become part of the show in the next season—and that more family secrets will be revealed.
When will Wednesday season 3 come out?

Netflix
Wednesday season 3 doesn’t have a release date just yet, but we can take some educated guesses on a release date based on the information we have. We don’t have a concrete timeframe for when filming will begin just yet, but Forbes suggests that a November 2025 start is in play, while other sources suggest a Spring 2026 start.
Either way—season 3 should arrive with a much shorter wait than season 2. This time, there won’t be a WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike (as far as we can tell), so the production should be pretty efficient. That being said, Wednesday is a major production, and an effects-heavy show, so it will take a while. There’s a reason why shows like The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and Slow Horses—with minimal special effects and such—are able to return annually, and why other shows, like Stranger Things and House of the Dragon (with lots of post-production work needed) take longer. Wednesday falls into the latter, unfortunately.
If we had to guess, we’d say on the optimistic end, we could see the show return for Fall 2026, but more likely some time in 2027 is more in play.
