Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1.
TMZ received a fourth anonymous note about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
The sender demands Bitcoin for identifying information about those involved.
TMZ has received a fourth note from an unknown sender who is asking for Bitcoin in exchange for information about who is responsible for the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
“I know what I saw 5 days ago south of the border and I was told to shut up so I know who he is and that was definitely Nancy with them,” the note reads in part.
The note appears to have been sent by the same person as it includes the same Bitcoin address. The person said they prefer to come forward with information anonymously because they have a “burglary” on his record from 10 years ago and he’s afraid of getting in trouble.

TMZ sent a message to the person who sent the note, writing, “If the individual who is writing us these emails is reading this … if you are for real, send us the information regarding the whereabouts of Nancy and her kidnappers. We will immediately forward the information to the FBI. If it leads to finding Nancy and/or the kidnappers, you then have a public record that you are the one responsible, thus ensuring you will get the reward. The FBI is aware we are making this overture.”
In the third note, which was sent on Friday, Feb. 13, the person told TMZ they wanted 1 Bitcoin (approximately $68,000) for the name of the person behind Nancy’s disappearance. They promised not to touch the money until after an arrest was made, and then they asked for another Bitcoin—essentially the $100,000 that the FBI has offered for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case.
It’s important to note that the person sending this particular Bitcoin request does not appear to be the same person who was sending unverified ransom notes, demanding $6 million in Bitcoin from the Guthrie family in exchange for Nancy. As far as the public knows, those deadlines set by the would-be kidnapper came and went without proof of life—or Bitcoin transfers.
On Sunday, Feb. 15, a GoFundMe was started by someone in Tucson in hopes of crowdfunding the 1 Bitcoin for the information from the person sending notes to TMZ.
“Nancy Guthrie is currently missing, and as a concerned citizen, I am organizing this fundraiser to support the Guthrie family in their search for answers. The family has received information that could potentially lead to Nancy’s location, but it comes from sources that are less than credible and requires the purchase of bitcoin to access. While there is no guarantee that this tip will bring Nancy home, the family is determined to explore every possible avenue in hopes of reuniting with their loved one,” the GoFundMe reads, in part.
As of this writing, $180 of the $65,000 goal had been donated.
Nancy, 84, has been missing since Friday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe that she may have been abducted from her Arizona home.
