Law enforcement officials continue searching for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie.
The 84-year-old was last seen on Saturday, Jan. 31, at her home in the Catalina Foothills, a community north of Tucson in Pima County. Law enforcement said they thought she likely disappeared in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 1.
There have been several major updates on the missing persons case in the past few days, including the release of images from home security footage and the discovery of gloves and DNA at her home.

Asked if law enforcement was getting close to finding the kidnapper, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC, “We think we’re getting there. We think we’re getting closer.
“Some of these cases go for months. Some of these cases go for years. We’re prepared, that whatever that time is, we’re going to continue fighting it. We’re going to get there. We will find this person, that we know.”

Who is Nancy Guthrie and why is she important?
Nancy Guthrie, who has appeared on the “TODAY” show several times over the years, is a single mom to Savannah Guthrie and her sister. Their father died of a heart attack when Savannah Guthrie was sixteen years old.
“She has met unthinkable challenges in her life with grit, without self-pity, with determination, and always, always with unshakeable faith,” Savannah Guthrie said in a tribute on her mother’s 80th birthday in 2022.
She was last seen on Jan. 31, and law enforcement officials believe she was taken from her home against her will. Law enforcement officials were still looking for her as of Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Latest update on Savannah Guthrie’s missing mom
On Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released photos and videos retrieved from her Google Nest doorbell camera that captured an armed, masked man with a medium build approaching her front door.
The man also appears to wear disposable gloves and a backpack, with a handgun holstered near his groin.
A video clip shows the man initially trying to block the doorbell camera with his hand before retrieving a branch from a nearby plant to help obscure the camera. He is holding what appears to be a flashlight in his mouth.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained a person for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie during a traffic stop south of Tucson on Feb. 10, Sheriff Chris Nanos.
However, the man who was detained was later released and spoke to reporters at his home. He said the authorities had accused him of kidnapping, which is “something I did not do.” He also said he was unsure why he had been detained.
