Missing American Lynette Hookerâs husband flees the Bahamas â after insisting âsole focusâ was finding his wife
The husband of missing Michigan mom Lynette Hooker left the Bahamas on Wednesday to reportedly deal with another family emergency â just one day after he assured his âsole focusâ was finding his wife.
Brian Hooker, 59, caught a commercial flight out of the Caribbean country âbecause his mom is very ill,â his attorney Terrell Butler told NBC News.

âHe has traveled to [the] United States of America to be at her bedside during this critical time,â Butler said in a statement to the outlet.
Butler insisted that his client plans on returning to the Bahamas.
Brian was detained last Wednesday in connection with his wifeâs disappearance. He was released on Monday after investigators failed to file charges against him.
His wife of 25 years reportedly fell overboard â with the vesselâs keys in hand â while she and Brian were taking a dinghy back to their yacht anchored in Elbow Cay on April 4.
Brian told investigators he lost sight of Lynette and had to paddle back to shore.
Hours after his release, Brian pleaded his innocence to multiple outlets.

In an interview with NBC News, he asserted that he âwould never harmâ his wife.
But Lynetteâs mother revealed that her daughter considered leaving Brian multiple times, and painted him as a âmeanâ and âhatefulâ drunk.
Lynetteâs daughter from a previous marriage claimed that Brian had a violent history, including choking out Lynette and threatening to throw her overboard.
Brian was also charged with fourth-degree child abuse in 2005 when he allegedly choked his daughter, who he shared with an ex-partner, during a disagreement over her Christian beliefs.
In 2015, Brian accused Lynette of bashing him in the face, while Lynette claimed he choked her out and punched her in the forehead in a drunken rage.
The search for Lynette has since shifted to a recovery mission.
