Dragon Age: The Veilguard got another trailer last week, and it went down a whole lot better than the initial reveal. Morrigan is back, old plot points are being revived, and we’re getting a pet griffon. However, not everyone is happy with what we’ve seen so far, and are making their grievances known wherever they can.
Most notably, the Steam discussions page for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being flooded by weirdos who are only just realising that the series is pretty, well… woke. At least by whatever standards they’re judging The Veilguard by. But no, it seems to just be occurring to them that queer and non-white people exist in Thedas, and they’re not taking it well at all.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Steam Page Is A Mess
These are just some of the lowlights on the Dragon Age: The Veilguard Steam page, as apparent fans struggle to comprehend that the latest trailer shows off a fairly diverse cast.
Of course, this is all pretty funny to people who have actually played Dragon Age, because while the series is far from perfect, it was a pretty early adopter of queer romances in video games. So much so that modern-day chuds seem to forget that their late ’00s ancestors were once levying the same complaints at Dragon Age: Origins over the fact that Zevran hit on them.
Then, in Dragon Age 2, most of the Kirkwall gang was bisexual or pansexual – and they weren’t afraid to make their interest in the player known. So, it’s baffling that it’s taken some “fans” this long to realise that, maybe, Dragon Age is kinda woke.
The funniest complaint though has to be the idea that Morrigan, of all people, is ugly now. Perhaps they’re just taken aback by the fact that after 22 years, our favourite witch has finally picked up some new threads. She’s even done something new with her hair. Good for her.
In any case, this is all very entertaining and will keep us busy while we wait for more news on The Veilguard. It isn’t much longer until we get our woke little DEI hands on the game though, as it’s set to launch on October 31.
