Beauty in Black season 3 is happening—but there’s a sad catch

Beauty in Black is finally back with the last half of its second season on Netflix, and the question on everyone’s mind after watching the last eight episodes is whether the show has an answer about its future. Well, we’re here to tell you that it does.
Back in December 2025, Netflix announced the release date for Beauty in Black season 2 part 2 as well as gave fans a first look at the second batch of episodes. However, that wasn’t all. The streaming giant also officially confirmed at the time that the hit drama would be returning for a third season. However, the announcement came with a major twist that changed how viewers should look at what’s coming next.
While Beauty in Black season 3 is on the way, it will also mark the end of the series.

Beauty in Black season 3 renewal confirmed by Netflix
Netflix officially renewed Beauty in Black for a third season in late 2025, signaling strong confidence in the series and its growing audience. The show, created by Tyler Perry, has steadily gained traction since its debut and has become one of the platform’s more talked-about drama titles.
The early renewal—before the full rollout of season 2 had even concluded—suggested that the streamer saw the series as a key part of its lineup, at least in the short term.
But despite the good news, there was a significant downside. Netflix confirmed that season 3 will serve as the final installment of Beauty in Black. This means the story is not being extended beyond its current trajectory. Instead, the third season is being positioned as a planned conclusion, wrapping up all major storylines and character arcs.
While some fans may view this as disappointing, it also indicates that the series will have a defined ending rather than being left unresolved or abruptly canceled. Another unfortunate catch with the third and final season is that it will consist of only six episodes.
Since the very beginning of the drama series, each part has consisted of eight episodes. Dropping down to just six episodes marks a noticeable shift, and it raises questions about how much ground the show will be able to cover in its final season. With fewer episodes to work with, the final installment will likely move at a much quicker pace and prioritize resolution over buildup.
However, a shorter season doesn’t necessarily mean a lesser one. In fact, it could result in a more concentrated and emotionally impactful conclusion. If handled well, this final run could deliver a powerful sendoff. We’re talking one that ties everything together while leaving a lasting impression on fans. That’s what we’re hoping for!
Expected release window for Beauty in Black season 3
At the time of writing, Netflix has not announced an official premiere date for Beauty in Black season 3. However, there is a strong possibility that the final season could arrive in late 2026 based on the release pattern of previous installments. Perhaps we might see the third season drop sometime in September or October of this year. Don’t worry! We’ll get back to you with the official release date once it’s announced by Netflix.
Seasons 1 and 2 followed a split-release model, with episodes divided into two parts. Netflix could use the same strategy again for season 3, but we think the streaming giant might switch things up this time around. Why? Well, there are only six episodes in total. Since it’s a shorter season, it would make more sense for all six episodes to drop at once.
Spoilers are ahead from the Beauty in Black season 2 finale!
What to expect in the third season
The season 2 finale set the stage for a high-stakes conclusion, ending with Kimmie teaming up with Horace and Mallory to take down the rest of the Bellarie family. It was a surprising alliance, especially considering the tension and rivalry that had been building between Kimmie and Mallory. But it ultimately proved to be a strategic move that shifted the balance of power in their favor.
Other members of the Bellarie family were left blindsided when they learned that the trio had turned state’s evidence against them, effectively pushing them out of power. The second season ended with the FBI entering the Beauty in Black company’s office, just moments after the family’s crimes were exposed in a tense boardroom showdown. Although we don’t actually see anyone being put in handcuffs, it’s obvious that arrests were about to happen.
Unfortunately, there aren’t really any plot details just yet for the upcoming Beauty in Black season 3. However, some of the cast teased what’s next in a Netflix press release.
Kimmie, who ended season 2 in a position of control, will reportedly begin to fully embrace her role at the top. But with that power comes pressure, and the biggest question moving forward is whether she can actually maintain it.
The cast also hinted that the stakes will be even higher this time around. The tension, drama, and power struggles that have defined the series so far are expected to intensify, pushing each character further than ever before.
Although Netflix has not released a full official cast list for season 3, the core ensemble is expected to return. This includes the central characters who have driven the story from the beginning, particularly those involved in the show’s primary conflicts and power dynamics. Maintaining the main cast will be essential for bringing the story to a cohesive and satisfying close.
The bottom line
Beauty in Black season 3 is officially happening, giving fans one more installment to look forward to. However, it will also bring the story to a close. The decision to end Beauty in Black with its third season appears to be intentional rather than the result of declining performance.
With a final season on the horizon, the focus now shifts to how the series will wrap up its biggest storylines and whether it can deliver a satisfying ending. For viewers, the message is clear. The story isn’t over yet, but it’s entering its final act.
