‘The Case’: Netflix Series From Lupin Creator Starring Jakob Oftebro and Peter Andersson Sets 2026 Release
Netflix has announced The Case, a new Swedish crime series from acclaimed creator and writer George Kay, known for his work on hit shows like Lupin (which just wrapped its fourth season), Hijack, and The Long Shadow. The five-episode series recently wrapped production in Stockholm and is set to launch globally on Netflix in 2026.
Directed by Kristoffer Nyholm (The Vanishing), The Case follows clean-cut Lead Investigator Thomas Berg (Jakob Oftebro) as he hunts a serial killer targeting his fellow police officers. In a desperate move, Thomas turns to his estranged father, Alfred (Peter Andersson), a once-respected but now out-of-favor ex-detective. They must put aside their difficult history to have any chance of catching one of Sweden’s most notorious killers.
The series has already wrapped filming and will consist of five episodes. You can add the show to your queue here.
George Kay expressed his excitement about the project, calling it “part father-son love story, part criminal thriller.” He praised the cast and crew, stating that the series “brings darkness… even to the endless Stockholm Summer.”
Jenny Stjernströmer Björk from Netflix noted Kay’s “extraordinary gift for crafting suspenseful, character-driven stories” and is thrilled to collaborate with him on this “bold new take on Swedish crime.”
