Black Myth Wukong is selling fast but nowhere near the impressive record achieved by the fastest-selling game of all time released a decade ago.
Black Myth Wukong is now available for the gaming community to purchase on the PlayStation 5 and PC digital storefronts. The game is selling well despite being made by an independent game developer, and amidst the fierce competition, it proves that there is a market for single-player games in a gaming industry oversaturated with competitive online multiplayer titles. Recent reports suggest the game already made more than the development cost a few weeks after release which is an outstanding achievement.

Selling units at an unprecedented rate is a rare feat. However, the game is nowhere near the record set by the fastest-selling game ever.

The game was released a few weeks ago and has already shattered records established by other popular games on the PC platform. The gaming community had high hopes for this project since the developers of Game Science shared early looks and previews and fans were convinced this video game would be a massive hit.
Black Myth Wukong sold 18 million copies across the PlayStation 5 and PC in the first two weeks since launch. Despite missing out on the Xbox platform for some odd reason, the game is already doing well and better than anticipated. The estimated revenue is around $700 million which is impressive; however, it is nothing compared to the $800 million GTA 5 achieved in the first 24 hours of its release a decade ago and still holds the record as the fastest-selling video game ever.

Unfortunately, not everyone on the PlayStation 5 had a great first impression of the game. Some players complained about the awful performance and fuzzy-looking visuals which greatly affected their first experience of this highly-anticipated project. Nevertheless, only a minority have noticed this issue, and it is safe to assume that developers addressed these problems with previous patches, and the complaints have dwindled.
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has made a name for itself after consistently improving after each major installment. The developers of Rockstar Games pushed the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 hardware to the absolute limit and players everywhere spent most of their time roaming the streets of Los Santos and exploring Blaine County. To this day, the game has been remastered and upgraded for the current generation which speaks volumes to the influence and sheer quality of GTA 5.

GTA 5 is a generational success and Rockstar Games may be the only game developer qualified to recreate that success and overthrow its product. The gaming community has been clamoring for GTA 6 for years and will finally get to play it sometime around fall of next year.
The gaming community expects GTA 6 will overtake GTA 5 during the preorder phase which is a tall order. Given the hype and anticipation, there is a strong possibility that the game will shatter records and crush numbers that even the developers did not see coming.
Game Science got the ball rolling and fans know what to expect from the studio in future projects. Recent reports suggest that the studio plans major expansions that could feature other deities like Zhong Kui as the featured protagonists.
Gaming has peaked and the fans are ready to be spoiled. Black Myth Wukong has only scratched the surface, and it is up to the developers of Game Science to strike while the iron is hot.
