Season 8 could’ve been saved.

No matter how popular and acclaimed Game of Thrones is, and how much it has changed the public perception of fantasy TV series, the majority of fans would agree that the finale was disappointing.

Even though it’s supposed to get better with rewatching, it still bugs viewers so much that they come up with the craziest theories of how it could have been better.

There are many characters whose fates fans would like to change if they had the chance. Daenerys Targaryen has to be at the top of the list, followed by Jon Snow, Arya and Bran Stark. While some of the characters don’t really deserve the fame they’ve gotten, others would do better with a more thoughtful storyline to secure their position.

One fan theory suggests a great explanation for Bran Stark’s storyline that he truly deserves. As Redditor Embarrassed-Lime906 suggested, the series would make so much more sense if it were revealed that Bran Stark was not only the Three-Eyed Raven, but the Night King himself.

Of course, that would be the biggest and most daring twist in the entire series, but if done right, it would perfectly tie in Bran’s visions with the actions of the Night King.

Also, as noted in the post, it would make perfect sense with the casting we already have. Isaac Hempstead Wright, who portrayed Bran, can perfectly transition into Vladimir Furdik, who was the actor behind the Night King.

The amount of depth and drama that this change would add to the story is exactly what season 8 of the show needed. In addition to the conflict that Bran would face being trapped in the entity that goes against his own morals, it would also mean a heartbreaking reveal after Arya manages to kill him.

Unfortunately, there is no way to translate this idea to the show, as it has already ended and viewers are stuck with the version of the finale that aired. However, if there is the slightest chance that George R.R. Martin is checking the fan spaces on Reddit, you might see this theory come to life in the final book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
