Another Disney DISASTER | Rachel Zegler Says Her Modern-Day Snow White Doesn’t Need a Man!

Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. With the film already facing massive backlash for its drastic departures from the original 1937 classic, lead actress Rachel Zegler has only added fuel to the fire with her controversial comments about the film’s direction. In a move that has outraged many Disney fans, Zegler has repeatedly dismissed the classic romance of Snow White, stating that her character “doesn’t need a man” and won’t be saved by a prince.
Instead of generating excitement, these remarks have sparked intense criticism, leaving audiences wondering—why is Disney so determined to fix something that wasn’t broken?
Rachel Zegler’s Controversial Comments: A PR Nightmare

During multiple interviews, Zegler has made it clear that her version of Snow White will be drastically different from the original. Instead of focusing on the fairy-tale romance that made the story iconic, this remake will apparently turn Snow White into a “strong, independent leader” who has no interest in a Prince Charming.
In one interview, Zegler stated:
“It’s no longer 1937. She’s not going to be saved by the prince, and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader her late father told her she could be.”
While there’s nothing wrong with adding more depth to classic characters, Zegler’s dismissive tone toward the original film has angered many longtime Disney fans. Instead of respecting the timeless appeal of Snow White, her comments make it seem like she views the beloved story as something to be embarrassed about.
Even worse, she went on to mock the original prince, calling him “a creepy guy who just stalks Snow White.”
The result? A massive backlash from Disney’s core audience.
Disney’s Obsession with “Fixing” Classics
Disney’s trend of modernizing fairy tales has been growing over the years, but many feel that the studio is losing sight of what made these stories beloved in the first place. Instead of focusing on compelling storytelling, Disney seems more concerned with pushing messages that don’t always resonate with audiences.
This approach has backfired before—The Little Mermaid (2023) faced backlash for removing iconic lyrics from songs to avoid “problematic” themes, and Mulan (2020) drastically altered the storyline, resulting in one of Disney’s biggest live-action flops.
Now, Snow White appears to be following the same doomed path.
The problem isn’t that Disney is updating its stories—it’s that they are actively rejecting the very elements that made these films classics.
Snow White’s romance with the prince? Gone.
The Seven Dwarfs? Replaced by “magical creatures.”
The original themes of kindness, love, and fairy-tale magic? Overshadowed by a modern political message.
Instead of embracing the charm of the original, Disney seems determined to rewrite the past, even if it means alienating its most loyal fans.
Gal Gadot Steals the Show?

Interestingly, the only aspect of Snow White that seems to be getting any positive buzz is Gal Gadot’s portrayal of the Evil Queen. Unlike Zegler, Gadot has spoken about her role with enthusiasm, praising the opportunity to bring the iconic villain to life.
Many fans have pointed out that Gadot appears to be having more fun with the role than Zegler does as the lead. Some have even joked that they’d rather watch a Maleficent-style spinoff starring Gadot’s Evil Queen than sit through a Snow White movie that doesn’t respect its source material.
At this point, could Disney’s best move be to rebrand the film as “The Evil Queen” and give Gadot top billing?
Will Snow White Be Disney’s Biggest Box Office Bomb?
With Disney already delaying the release of Snow White to 2025, speculation is growing that the studio is panicking behind the scenes. Whether they’re scrambling to do reshoots or simply trying to wait out the backlash, it’s clear that the movie is in trouble.
But will Disney learn from its mistakes? Or will Snow White go down as one of the biggest disasters in the company’s history?
One thing is for sure—audiences are losing patience with Disney’s constant rewrites of beloved classics. If the studio keeps alienating fans, they may soon find that nostalgia alone isn’t enough to save them at the box office.
What do you think? Is this version of Snow White doomed before it even hits theaters? Or can Disney somehow turn things around?
