Cristin Milioti revealed that she was once asked to change the way she speaks in theater school or she would never get the roles she wanted.
Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti have become quite the iconic duo in recent weeks, as more and more interviews showcase their dynamic. Even though they are on opposing sides in The Penguin, they manage to maintain a friendly sort of understanding where they are able to be extremely open with each other.
This has made their interviews with each other all the more interesting. Recently, Milioti talked about a piece of advice she was given when she was starting out in her professional life. The reaction that Farrell had to this showcases just how close they are.
Colin Farrell Asked Cristin Milioti About The Worst Advice She Ever Got
Before the first episode of The Penguin was released, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti sat down with Max to talk about their personal and professional lives so that fans could better know them. There were many interesting questions throughout this interview, ranging from Farrell’s costume as the Penguin to skills that Milioti had to learn when she took on the role of Sofia Falcone.

At one point in the interview, Farrell asked Milioti about the worst piece of advice she had ever received in her professional life. After some thinking, the actress went back to her time in theater school. It is a well-known fact that when one is in show business, every single one of their attributes will be torn down at one point or another.
When I was in theater school, they were like, “You have to change the way your voice sounds because you’ll never play the type of roles you want to play.
Since actors have to get deep into characters to be successful, it is assumed that people will change anything and everything about themselves to become the next big star.
After the question was put forth, Milioti confessed that when she was a student, she was told by someone that she should change the way that she speaks in order to get better roles in the industry.

Being asked to change the cadence of her voice, she was told that she would not get the kind of roles that she wanted if she kept it the way that it naturally was.

It’s safe to assume that when someone is trying to rise through the ranks of Hollywood, being told that something as fundamental as their voice could come in the way of their success isn’t a good feeling. Such comments could very easily tear down someone’s self-confidence and leave them in a dark place, not even wanting to pursue a career as an actor after such a declaration.
Oh, get f**ked.
With that in mind, as soon as Cristin Milioti revealed her experience in theater school, Colin Farrell had a very audible reaction. Upset by what she was told, he asked her if she took such a comment to heart, and if she did, if it was temporary or did she listen to their words and change that part of herself? The actress confessed that she naturally ended up taking the comment to heart.
I think for like a week. And then I was like, “I’m gonna go.“
However, the period that she was upset wasn’t very long, with her confessing that she was upset for a week. However, she did not listen to their advice and decided to stick to her natural voice, and one can confidently say that fans are glad about this.
The Penguin is available for streaming in Max.
