Even for a Black Friday sale, this is extreme. This latest failure by Arkham-verse developer Rocksteady lost parent company WB Games an estimated $200 million. The live-service game failed to find an audience on any platform, and many blame that on the uninspired gameplay and a narrative that disrespects some of the world’s most iconic superheroes while embracing identity politics.
And these quality issues all center around one company.

Kill the Justice League was the first major bomb that brought Kim Belair’s narrative design company into the light of day, where gamers the world over became aware of its existence.
Developers pay this firm top dollar to rework narratives and inject Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to improve ESG scores. While Belair and her minions in the gaming access journalism industry like to try and downplay their involvement, the company’s narrative influence on Kill the Justice League is undeniable.
There’s even an entire section of the game’s credits dedicated to Sweet Baby Inc., seen above.

If you want to find the core of the game’s narrative issues, look no further than the super hero bios that Sweet Baby Inc wrote for the League members. The bios are written by members of the Suicide Squad, but there’s a stark difference between someone like, say, Green Lantern when compared to Wonder Woman.
Green Lantern’s bio states:
“I guess he’s a good role model for the kids? If you want your kids to grow up to become know-it-all narcs…”
Now, here’s what the game says about Wonder Woman:
“Wonder Woman, so named, I assume, because one Wonders why a Woman of her caliber and ancestry would leave paradise to play in the mud with us. In the League, she is a beacon of rational thought paired with profound empathy, of strength and kindness in equal measure. She is a hero, moreso than any who surround her.”
It’s subtle, but there’s a real difference in how the game treats Wonder Woman as opposed to all the male Justice League members.
Wonder Woman’s death in the game is treated with reverence while Captain Boomerang literally urinates on The Flash’s corpse.
Additionally, Batman, in one of Kevin Conroy’s final appearances as the caped crusader, is shot in the face by Harley Quinn in an alleyway while she berates him.

Simply put, the game was an unmitigated disaster, and now it’s finally priced according to value.
The Suicide Squad Steam pricing comes after the Digital Deluxe Edition went on sale on the Epic Games store for just $4.99. The standard edition of the game was and still is priced at $69.99 at Epic, with the deluxe edition alone receiving the hefty discount.
The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League concurrent player count on Steam on November 28, 2024.
But it seems that even offering the game for practically nothing isn’t enough to get people to play it.
As of this writing, Kill the Justice League has 618 players worldwide, with a 24-hour peak of 766, and an all time peak of 13,459. You’ll note in the image above the sale did create a spike to get the meager numbers we’re seeing here. For most of the last week, the game failed to crack 100 players worldwide.
