‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ the latest installment in the franchise, aired for 8 episodes before being canceled. While the official reason for the cancellation hasn’t been confirmed, it’s likely related to its record-low viewership and high production costs.
The show faced numerous hate-fueled attacks as well as valid criticism for its low quality and weak storyline.
Despite the controversy, ‘The Acolyte’ garnered a small but vocal audience on social media, who even started a petition to “resurrect” the show. However, the chances of this happening seem slim, as the company appears to be distancing itself from the series. Recently, all ‘The Acolyte’ merchandise was removed from the official store, today only a few T-shirts have been returned.
Less than six months after its debut, the show was removed from the platform as part of cost-cutting measures. Similar to ‘The Acolyte,’ its merchandise was also pulled from the store.
Fans are now concerned that Disney+ might remove ‘The Acolyte’ from its library entirely, potentially eliminating all legal ways to watch the show. Even if the show isn’t revived, the petition may help prevent its complete removal.
