Star Wars is undoubtedly one of the most important franchises of all time. Whether you’re a fan or not, you’ve definitely heard of the franchise and know some characters from the franchise. The characters from Star Wars are now a part of modern pop culture and that is why we often talk about them.
In this report, we are going to go back to The Acolyte and its main villain, Qimir, who was a very interesting villain and, in a way, a predecessor to Palpatine, as he was Darth Plagueis’ apprentice before the future Emperor. Qimir did not get enough time to shine, but he was there long enough for us to discuss some aspects.
Namely, as the title suggests, if we compare Plagueis’ two apprentices, we will find an interesting detail that might suggest that Qimir could actually be more powerful than Palpatine. Is it true? Read it in our analysis below!
Well, to ease your minds a bit before we actually get to the point – no, Qimir is not stronger than Palpatine. In fact, Palpatine is most likely the strongest Sith Lord in history, as his combination of skill and cunning probably surpasses all those before him. He surpassed Darth Plagueis, and he managed to control Darth Vader so that the latter would never actually surpass him properly. He is the embodiment of evil and in that aspect, Qimir wouldn’t have stood a chance against him.
But, if we actually do stop and compare the two of them, we see that Qimir did do something that Palpatine never dared to do – he faces a group of eight(!) Jedi all by himself, and he won. He was so confident that he would win against them that he never even stopped to consider his decision to fight them.
Okay, you could argue that there were some Padawans there and that the overall power the Jedi had was not that great, but still – eight of them?! At the same time?! This is certainly proof of Qimir’s skill and a thing that Palpatine would never have done. He faced three Jedi at the same time in Revenge of the Sith and was on the brink of losing to Mace Windu, and he faced Yoda alone.
Palpatine never actually wanted to face so many Jedi and that, of course, raises the question – was Palpatine afraid of doing it? Was Qimir more skilled at the time?
Well, in our opinion, the answer to this question can be found in two facts. The first one is that the Jedi were much more powerful in Palpatine’s time and he knew that he would not have been able to face eight members of the Jedi Council (in fact, he was on the brink of losing against both Windu and Yoda) by himself; but neither could Qimir – he would’ve been killed by the likes of Windu or Yoda in a matter of seconds.
The second is Palpatine’s mind. Namely, Palpatine was the most intelligent Sith Lord we know of and the level of his cunning was absolutely amazing. He managed to outwit his enemies more often than he actually overpowered them and in that aspect, the Sith Lord was not weaker than Qimir, just smarter.
Of course, Palpatine would’ve dealt with the same eight Jedi Qimir fought and with much more ease than Qimir, but he never faced such a threat during his career simply because – we believe – he was not stupid enough to engage in such a fight.
