Angelina Jolie

Anyone who watched the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 16 knows that Angelina Jolie was in her element as a Broadway producer. Not only did she look stunning in her teal velvet Versace gown, but the 49-year-old actress wore a confidence that fans haven’t seen in a while.

Even though she split from Brad Pitt in 2016 after an alleged domestic violence incident, Angelina has spent the last eight years raising their six children and fighting her ex in court over child custody and their French winery. Now, it’s her time to shine. At the Tony Awards, Angelina and 15-year-old daughter Vivienne looked thrilled to be a part of the theater community, especially since The Outsiders won for Best Musical. The duo headed over to Rosa Mexicano with the cast after the awards to celebrate their victory.

“She was kickin’ it,” an actor from the show told the New York Post. The night didn’t end with margaritas, though, the Eternals star continued the party at her new Soho store, Atelier Jolie, and swiftly ordered McDonald’s for the cast and crew at 4 a.m., per the media outlet. She didn’t wrap up the party until 6 a.m. when their Tony Awards celebration finally came to an end. The old Angelina Jolie might not even have a New York City chapter, but after her divorce from Pitt, she admitted to Vogue that the entire family “had a lot of healing to do.”

“We’re still finding our footing,” she explains while noting that her exploration of the fashion industry and her Broadway producing credit with The Outsiders were game changers for her entire brood. “I think part of this has also been therapeutic for me—to work in a creative space with people you trust and to rediscover yourself. I’m hoping to change many aspects of my life. And this is the forward-facing one.”

Like Kelly Clarkson after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, a move to the Big Apple seems to be just the breath of fresh air Angelina needed. “Angelina’s been in New York for most of this year, and her plan is to make a full-time move there as soon as possible because she’s so sick and tired of L.A.,” a source told In Touch. “But she must wait until she wraps things up with her ex-Brad Pitt as far as custody and visitation rights go — and it’s taking forever.”

With only the twins, Vivienne and Knox a part of the visitation case now — their four other kids are over the age of 18 — it’s only a matter of time before Angelina is an official East Coast gal. The fashion and Broadway community have welcomed her with open arms which has to be a relief after her personal battles with Pitt.
