Jennifer Lawrence once revealed that working with Leonardo DiCaprio, one of Hollywood’s most respected actrors, was ‘hell’, leaving her in ‘absolute misery’.
The 31-year-old recalled her time filming Don’t Look Up with DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet during a 2021 interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Don’t Look Up is a comedy/sci-fi film that was released by Netflix in 2021, and stars Lawrence and DiCaprio as two low-level astronomers who try to warn the world’s population that an asteroid is about to destroy planet Earth.
Despite Lawrence admitting that it was ‘cool’ to work with her fellow co-stars – who also included Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Mark Rylance, Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, and Tyler Perry – she said some days were just unbearable.
Reflecting on her time filming the movie, she admitted that DiCaprio and Chalamet drove her ‘crazy’.
Talking to Stephen Colbert, she said: “Timothée was just excited to be like out of the house [after lockdown]. I think it was, like, his first scene.
“And Leo had picked the song that was playing in the car and was just, like, ‘you know, this song was about, you know, blah, blah, blah.’

“I just remember being in absolute misery that day. It was hell.”
And these weren’t the only two she found hard to work with.
She said that the ‘comedic master’ that is Jonah Hill made it difficult for the pair to get through scenes together.
Talking to Vanity Fair, she said: “It was really, really hard filming with Jonah, and just not ruining take after take, laughing.
“We once dedicated an entire day to him just improv-ing insults at me. It was amazing.
“I mean, he’s just a comedic master. I mean we all did some [improv] just not as well as Jonah.”
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Lawrence was actually paid a smaller fee than her male co-star DiCaprio for the same film.

It was reported that the Wolf of Wall Street star received $30m (£22.4m), whilst the Hunger Games hero received $25m (£18.7m).
Though the No Hard Feelings star admitted it didn’t actually bother her.
Commenting on the pay gap, Lawrence told Vanity Fair: “Look, Leo brings in more box office than I do.
“I’m extremely fortunate and happy with my deal.”
