In an interview at the SDCC to adapt his BRZRKR comic book into an anime series with a live-action movie, Keanu Reeves said that the Wachowski siblings told him to watch Akira and Ghost in the Shell to prepare for his role in the movie, which was a commercial success.

In an interview at the San Diego Comic-Con panel, he was promoting his new comic BRZRKR, which was going to be animated, which he has written alongside Matt Kindt and drawn by Ron Garner.
He said:
“When I worked with the Wachowskis on the Matrix they were like ‘you need to watch these’ – it was like Akira, Ghost In The Shell – and that was pretty much the start of it,” he told convention attendees.
Akira and Ghost in the Shell has an excellent storyline and unique characters, and the series is all read by many people due to its complicated yet exciting storyline.
