The dancing duo dazzled for their final Dancing On Ice performance
Jayne and Chris, who have been performing together on TV for over 50 years, admitted they “wanted to do something very special”.
Holly Willoughby told viewers: “We have a piece of television history for you.”
Co-host Stephen Mulhern said: “Torvill and Dean have been performing on TV for as long as many of us can remember.
“In 1984, their Olympic gold medal winning performance was watched by a massive 24 million people in the UK alone.”
Holly continued: “Since 2006, they have been performing on the Dancing On Ice rink and tonight they are taking to the ice together for their last ever TV performance.”
In a VT clip, Chris said: “It’s very emotional. We wanted to include as much of the professionals as we could.
“Going out there for our last performance, it’s our Olympics again.
“We just want it to be perfect.
“We are retiring our skating now and it’s just fitting we are able to do a final performance on Dancing On Ice.”

Jayne shared: “When we were asked to do Dancing On Ice, it was to choreograph, we had actually retired and we were asked to demonstrated some of the technical moves with music and we thought ‘um, that would be a routine’.
“There we go, we were back performing again.”
Chris said: “We were doing performances every week and we loved it.”
Jayne continued: “As we’ve been skating together for 50 years and this is our final performance on Dancing On Ice, we wanted to do something really special.”
They then took to the ice and danced to 90s track Lifted Lighthouse Family and were joined by a number of the pro skaters.
Jayne and Chris were then lifted up in the air in a touching moment.
The Sun revealed last month that the skating duo will soon hang up their blades after 50 years of incredible performances when they take to the road for a UK arena tour titled Our Last Dance.
A source said: “No one in the audience had a clue they were about see such a historic moment.
“Jayne and Chris put on an incredible performance and proved they still had that magical chemistry on the ice after five decades.
“It was really emotional to watch and there were plenty of tears in the studio. It was an absolute privilege and something we’ll never see again.”
An insider confirmed the routine was filmed in advance for time reasons.
The medal-winning pairing announced their plans to leave the ice behind earlier this year.
Though it was a big decision, Christopher, 66, admitted they were ready.
He said: “We’ve been doing it a long time and people our age shouldn’t be doing it now, so we’re just happy that we can still do it.”
It’s not the end for their association with the show though, with both Chris and Jayne, 67, confirming they’ll be back on the judging panel next year.
Once their skating commitments are fulfilled, Jane plans to soak up the sun and play tennis with husband Phil Christensen in Spain where they have a holiday home.
Meanwhile Christopher and his partner Karen are buying a motorhome to travel around the UK.
Jayne and Chris were first partnered together in 1975 after winning British Championships.
In their first Olympic Games in 1980, the pairing skated away with a fifth-placed finish. It set them in good stead for what would become a career-defining win four years later, in Sarajevo.
The 1984 routine to the iconic Bolero is still revered to this day and kickstarted a decade long winning run in which they were quite literally unbeatable.
They returned to the amateur scene, after years spent on the professional circuit, for the 1994 Games where they received a hard fought bronze medal.
