Jenna Ortega Shares The REAL Reason She Is Not Interested In Dating
In an honest discussion of her love life, American actress Jenna Ortega opened up about why she might not be getting involved with anyone anytime soon.
Ortega acknowledged that she is currently single and that her relationship status is unlikely to change soon because of her intense focus on her career.
She remarked that she is uncomfortable with the need to be vulnerable in order to maintain a romantic relationship.

Jenna Ortega Reveals Why She Isn’t Interested In Dating

The “Jane the Virgin” star recently revealed that she is single during a conversation with Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert Podcast, after which she continued by explaining why she is not currently interested in dating.
Before disclosing that she had previously been in a relationship, Ortega, 20, said that she somewhat takes an indifferent stance on the subject.
“I almost don’t even find myself interested,” she stated, per E! News. “But I think a big part of it is self-esteem. Like, I don’t think I’m ready to be that vulnerable or trusting with someone.”
She shared that she was in a previous relationship with an unnamed individual but ended things when it all “got too hectic.”
The actress confessed that the conflict in her previous relationship had nothing to do with her ex but that she was unable to balance it with the demands of her career.
She Is Only Focused On Work

The “Scream VI” star further revealed that her work is currently the only thing receiving her full attention. Ortega’s concentration seemingly paid off, as “Wednesday” enjoyed an enviable reception, going on to become the second most popular English-language series on Netflix to date.
“If there’s one thing I’m going to focus on, which is probably something I need to change, it’s gonna be my work,” she said.
According to the young actress, tending to her personal needs can sometimes prove daunting as she puts most of her focus on her job. For this reason, she considers adding a relationship unnecessary, calling it “unfair.”
Jenna Ortega Recounts ‘Unprofessional’ Act On ‘Wednesday’

Elsewhere in the chat with Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert Podcast, the “Wednesday” star shared that she changed several lines while filming the movie. Ortega said that she was “unprofessional” in changing the lines, noting that she did it because she was “very protective” of her character.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down on a set in the way that I had to on ‘Wednesday’ because it’s so easy to fall into that category, especially with this type of show,” the actress told the host, per Insider.
“Everything that she does, everything that I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all,” she added. “Her being in a love triangle made no sense. There was a line about this dress that she has to wear for a school dance, and she says, ‘Oh, my god, I love it! I can’t believe I said that. I literally hate myself.’ And I had to go, ‘No, there’s no way.'”
The Golden Globe award nominee also revealed she had to put up with some storyline she disagreed with just so the show maintains an “emotional arc.”
“I grew very, very protective of her, but you can’t lead a story and have no emotional arc because then it’s boring and nobody likes you,” Ortega said.

Although “Wednesday” has since risen to critical acclaim, Ortega shared that the series is not the “proudest moment” of her career. Having noted that she doesn’t watch her work, the actress said there was no scene that made her go home convinced that it was a good one.
“Now a lot of people know me from that. It’s not my proudest moment internally, which, I think, also adds an extra level of insecurity and stress,” she noted.
She went on to divulge that the awards recognition she’s been nominated for because of the show’s success doesn’t mean much to her.
“My brain completely disregards that,” she stated in reference to the award nominations. “Oh, the general public must be so easy to please. People are shipping out content so fast, and the fact that we actually sat down and spent considerable time on that, I think, naturally would elevate or maybe make a show more appealing to an audience.”
