How Tall Is Tommaso Cioni? He Is In Focus As FBI Reveals Height Of Nancy Guthrie’s Masked Kidnapper
After the FBI shared a description of Nancy Guthrie’s masked kidnapper, journalists and the public focus shifted to Tommaso Cioni’s height.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of American broadcast journalist and Today Show host, Savannah Guthrie, has been missing from her Tucson, Arizona home after being last seen at midnight on January 31, 2026 (ET). On February 10, 2026 (ET), the case received a big breakthrough as the FBI released visuals of a masked person of interest in the 84-year-old’s abduction case. Recently, officials also publicised a description of the suspect’s physical appearance, after which public attention shifted to Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni’s height.
The FBI released description of Nancy Guthrie’s masked kidnapper’s physique
The FBI Phoenix office released a detailed physical description of the masked suspect believed to have kidnapped Nancy Guthrie on February 12, 2026 (ET). Based on forensic analysis of doorbell camera footage, the suspect is described as a male approximately 5’9″ to 5’10” tall with an average build. He carried a black 25-litre Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack and wore a ski mask, gloves, and a zip-up jacket during the incident. The masked abductor appeared to have a handgun holstered at his waist in the surveillance footage previously released by the FBI.

Does Tommaso Cioni’s height match the masked kidnapper of Nancy Guthrie?
An investigative journalist who runs the X (formerly Twitter) page, @JRLINVESTIGATES, recently wrote, “Tommaso Cioni is much taller than 5 ft 9-5 ft 10″ after the FBI-released description of Nancy Guthrie’s masked kidnapper went viral on the internet. Notably, the info might not be accurate, as per his publicly available pics, Tommaso seems half an inch shorter than Savannah, who is 5’10”. The ones who compared photos of the masked individual with Tommaso, labelling him as the kidnapper, are now ruling out Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law as Nancy’s probable kidnapper.

Although the public is almost convinced that Annie Guthrie’s husband, Tommaso, is not the man seen in the security cam footage, they have not stopped being suspicious of him. They feel he has been involved in hatching the criminal plan, even though he did not commit the crime himself. “I don’t think its Tommaso in the door bell camera video. He would have known about the doorbell camera, plus he would have gone around to the side of the house/back. But, not ruling him out of putting something together to have all this,” an X user commented.

Why was Tommaso Cioni previously considered as Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapper?
Some social media users claimed the recently released footage of a masked person of interest in Nancy Guthrie’s case matches Tommaso Cioni’s physical profile, specifically citing his facial hair (moustache and beard). “I’ve been suspicious about this guy for a week. Intruder has the same slow shoulders, oaffy build & dark facial hair too,” an X user wrote. The public also based their prediction on the fact that “the intruder sure knew the area around the Nest camera,” since it had been concealed effectively.

How did Tommaso Cioni first get linked to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance?
NewsNation journalist, Ashleigh Banfield claimed on her podcast that Tommaso Cioni was a “prime suspect,” citing an unverified law enforcement source. Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, are under intense scrutiny as they were among the last people to see Nancy Guthrie before she disappeared from her Tucson home on January 31, 2026. Tommaso reportedly drove Nancy home after a family dinner on Saturday night, ET, and confirmed she was safely inside at approximately 9:30 p.m. Notably, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have stated that there are currently no named suspects or persons of interest in the case.
