Italy’s most famous lawyer is back for her final chapter. Netflix has announced that the third and final season of the much-loved Italian period drama, The Law According to Lidia Poët, will premiere globally on April 15th. Today, the streamer dropped the official trailer, poster, and all the first looks you can see below for the final season.
The six-episode concluding season will see the return of Matilda De Angelis as the trailblazing Lidia Poët, Italy’s first modern female lawyer. The final installment promises to bring a conclusive end to her fight for justice and equality. Netflix first confirmed it was getting a (somewhat surprising) season 3 renewal back in December 2024, and confirmed the third season (not yet known to be the final season) at Next on Netflix 2026, alongside 16 other Netflix Originals from Italy was scheduled for release later in the year.
What to Expect in Season 3
The story picks up in April 1887. Lidia’s brother, Enrico (Pier Luigi Pasino), is now a member of parliament, working to pass a law that would officially allow Lidia to practice. Meanwhile, Lidia continues her relationship with prosecutor Pierluigi Fourneau (Gianmarco Saurino), though she remains resistant to marriage or making their connection public.
This season’s central legal battle becomes deeply personal when Lidia’s closest friend, Grazia Fontana (Liliana Bottone), is accused of murdering her husband. Lidia takes on the monumental task of arguing for self-defense to an all-male jury, putting her on a collision course with Fourneau, who is prosecuting the case.
The high-profile trial brings journalist Jacopo Barberis (Eduardo Scarpetta) back to Turin, reigniting his unresolved romantic tension with Lidia. The final season will force her to confront her feelings and decide between the two men.
