‘Fell out of the sky’: Witnesses find aircraft pieces, Hawaiian dresses in debris after UPS plane crash

At least seven people were killed after a UPS plane crashed and caught fire at an airport in Louisville, Kentucky.

Shortly after the crash, witnesses reported finding debris, presumably from the plane, which was departing Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport for Honolulu.

“It fell out of the sky when I was working on the car and that’s when we found out about the crash,” Justin Dunn described. “And then my son was like, ‘Hey, look in the sky,’ and it was coming down out of the sky when he picked it up.”

Other witnesses reported finding Hawaiian-style dresses, which appear to have come from the plane, near the crash site, according to WAVE.

“There’s definitely debris all through here, probably within 10 miles,” Dunn added.

Seven fatalities were confirmed on Tuesday night, but Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he expects that number to increase as emergency personnel survey the scene.

“We are terribly saddened by the accident tonight in Louisville. Our heartfelt thoughts are with everyone involved,” UPS said in a statement on Tuesday night, adding that three crewmembers were onboard at the time of the crash.

Several businesses located near the airport, including a recycling facility and an auto parts store, were heavily damaged by debris, according to the governor.

A shelter-in-place was issued for residents and businesses within several miles of the airport crash site.
