When Will ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 22 Be On Netflix?
The new season will come to Netflix in two regions in 2026 and beyond.

Believe it or not, Grey’s Anatomy is returning for its unprecedented twenty-second season on ABC. It will continue to be available on Netflix in two regions: the United States and Canada. They both should be getting season 22, but when? Here’s the currently expected release schedule.
The long-running medical drama television series, created by Shonda Rhimes, celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year. Known for its intricate storylines and focus on the personal and professional lives of surgical interns, residents, and attendings at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital (later renamed Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital).
The series remains ABC’s longest-running scripted show in history, having now surpassed 448 episodes across its 21 seasons thus far.
Season 22 is set to return beginning October 9th, 2025, on ABC with 18 episodes planned this season. The significant changes this season include Jake Borelli and Midori Francis no longer featuring as series regulars. Ellen Pompeo’s reduced role continues in season 22, narrating the show alongside appearing in seven episodes, making Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr the only two OG cast members appearing in all episodes.
The synopsis for the opening episode reads, “After the catastrophic hospital explosion, Grey Sloan’s staff scrambles to save not only their patients’ lives but also their own. Confronted with impossible surgical decisions and emotional turmoil, they fight to preserve life amid devastation.”

Netflix US Should Pick Up Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 in Summer 2025
Netflix has held the rights to Grey’s Anatomy for many years, dating back to at least 2014, with new seasons released every year thereafter.
While release dates are not widely publicized ahead of time, we can look back at prior years to see roughly when we expect season 22 to drop on Netflix US:
June 15, 2019 – Season 15
May 9, 2020 – Season 16
July 3, 2021 – Season 17
June 25, 2022 – Season 18
June 17, 2023 – Season 19
June 29, 2024 – Season 20
June 14, 2025 – Season 21
Taking an average, new episodes tend to drop around mid-June, meaning we expect all 18 episodes of Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy to drop in or around June 2026.
The show has undergone some changes behind the scenes regarding its licensing, but these changes do not impact Netflix. As part of a deal struck in December 2023, Hulu acquired the back catalog of the show, in addition to it remaining on Netflix.
What about Netflix Canada?
Netflix Canada remains the only other Netflix territory to carry the medical drama, although it receives episodes a bit later than the US. Season 21 was just confirmed for an October 9th, 2025, release, and we’re expecting season 22 to follow suit in Autumn 2026.
