Jodie Foster paid a glowing tribute to her wife Alexandra Hedison during her hand- and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood this week.
After a half-century career as a member of the A-list, Jodie, 61, placed her prints in cement in front of the Los Angeles landmark on Friday.
She received a glowing testimonial from her longtime close friend Jamie Lee Curtis, who referred to Jodie as her ‘bestie’ during this year’s Oscars.
During her own speech, Jodie pointed out that the ceremony was occurring on her and Alexandra’s 10th wedding anniversary, in footage taken by NBC LA.
‘The person that I have to thank the most, really, is my wife Alex, who I cannot believe was so generous to give up our 10-year anniversary day to come and do this with me,’ said Jodie, joking: ‘Like what are you thinking? How come we didn’t say no?’

As Alexandra wiped a tear away from her eyes, Jodie continued in a more serious vein: ‘I love you so much and I’m so grateful for the life we have together.’
Alexandra was seated in the audience next to Best In Show director Christopher Guest, who has been married to Jamie Lee for four decades.
Jodie reflected: ‘This has been my whole life, has been making films, living in Hollywood, creating a family of friends to do it with. This is my life, I love my life and I’m so grateful that all of you guys think I’m okay and that I deserve to be in cement.’
She said that ‘Hollywood for all of us in a way is this symbol space that’s about iconography and about dreams and fantasies, and for me it isn’t. It’s very concrete.’
Before she shot to stardom as a child actress in Martin Scorsese’s 1976 Taxi Driver, she used to visit the Chinese Theatre and fantasize about putting her prints there.
‘The experience that I had was coming here with my mom and my brothers and sisters and going to Musso & Frank’s,’ she said, referring to an iconic Hollywood steakhouse: ‘and then then putting my feet in the cement and measuring my feet to the other people – and yes, of course, saying: “Ooh, someday I would want that.”‘
She clarified: ‘But not because I wanted to be a movie star, but because I wanted to be real. I wanted to be real! I wanted to be a real person and a real person puts their hands in cement, hands and feet in cement, and somehow what they do matters, not just for this generation but for other generations.’
Jodie said: ‘So that was some kind of crazy fantasy that I had about belonging, which brings me here today, ’cause here I am with my family, right? My family and friends.’
